The rain has been falling and the grass is growing 🌱 If you have a fire plug located on your nature strip, next time you get the mower out please clear the grass around it 🙏🏼

The brigade uses these plugs to access water in an emergency 💦🔥You can see below how tricky they are to locate once the grass takes over.

Shout out to Craig and Fiona from Kooler Dairy Cobden for donating 1st prize a Hamper full of Local goods which was won by Harvey & Eddie Townsend, 2nd prize went to past captain Bill Nelson who can spoil the family with the basket of Easter eggs.

Community Support in Action-Thank you 🚜Cobden CFA would like to sincerely thank Sam from Monk & Son Ag for a generous donation that has allowed us to purchase important maintenance tools for our firefighting equipment. These tools were proudly purchased locally from Cobden Tools and Trailers, supporting another great local business in our community. Donations like this take the pressure off and allow our volunteers to focus on what matters most-training, equipment repairs and ongoing maintenance so we are always ready to respond and help keep our community safe. Today we had two crews out with the fires at larralea. One on the fire ground. The other at the airstrip reloading planes with the assistance of members from Cobden ses unit.

Tomorrow, Wed, 7 Jan 2026 has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban in the Wimmera, South West and Central (includes Melbourne and Geelong) district(s) of Victoria.

No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12:01 AM on Wed, 7 Jan 2026 until 11:59 PM Wed, 7 Jan 2026.
