It's been hand-painted in a 2D monochrome style by Mila Nacimentto, a Brazilian-born tattoo artist who has a studio and gallery called Aquarius Tattoo in Coffs Harbour.

The cafe will be opening on Saturday 16 September at the official opening of Yarrila Place. Get there from 9:30am so you don't miss the official welcome!

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ Be among the first people to experience the richness of connection to Gumbaynggirr Culture and Country at Yarrila Place , when it opens this Saturday 16 September.

As part of the official opening at 10am Uncle Ray Buchanan will perform a smoking ceremony, followed by a Welcome to Country from Lloyd Lynwood and Cultural dance from the Jalay Jalay Dancers.

Yarrila is a Gumbaynggirr word that means โ€œilluminate / brighten / light up / illustrateโ€.

๐Ÿ’“ One of the first major exhibitions at Yarrila Arts and Museum is โ€˜Ngarraanga ngaanya junaaygirr Hear me speakโ€™. Curated by Tori Donnely, the exhibition presents compelling artistic voices, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and contemporary practices of Gumbaynggirr artists.

๐Ÿ’“ In the new permanent museum collection, explore the history and identity of the Coffs Coast through themes of place, community and belonging, with Gumbaynggirr Culture at its heart.

๐Ÿ’“ A key feature of Yarrila Place is the Gumbaynggirr Art Trail. The trail showcases a collection of six exquisite artworks, created by Gumbaynggirr artists, representing each of the six clan groups on Gumbaynggirr country โ€“ Bagawa, Garby, Garlambirla, Yurrunga, Ngambaga and Gambalamam. A sneak peek of Josie Rose Flanders, 'Garlambirla Wajaarr'is included here - see the full work from Saturday!

๐Ÿ‘‰ Be among the first to be guided through the Gumbaynggirr Art Trail with an optional tour on opening day.

Who's excited for opening day? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We're officially 12 days away!

To get you in the mood, we've organised a "photo treasure hunt" for opening day ๐Ÿ“ธ

This will be a self-guided treasure hunt where we'll give you 12 cryptic photos of somewhere in the building, and it will be your job to (a) find those locations and (b) upload your own photo of it.

For the first 20 people to correctly locate all locations, you'll win a showbag full of YAM goodies! ๐Ÿ‘œ

We'll send you the link to the treasure hunt closer to the date. It's a Google form, so parents may need to assist their kids with their smartphone to participate ๐Ÿ™‚

There'll also be a QR code which links to it on the day.

Here's a sneak-peak of one of the locations. We'll release some more in the lead-up to 16 September.

Get ready to hunt! ๐Ÿ“ธ
