Why get involved?

The 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥 is The Salvation Army’s largest and most significant fundraising campaign, helping fund our crucial programs and services across Australia.

Over the past year, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟏.𝟕𝟒 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 to people doing it tough — offering practical support, compassion, and hope when it’s needed most.

Every day, Salvos on the frontline witness firsthand the growing hardship in our community — from rental unaffordability and mortgage stress, to financial hardship, mental health challenges, and more.

We’re excited to be welcoming the Sydney Staff Songsters – a choir of The Salvation Army – as they visit Engage Salvos, Coffs Harbour for a weekend of worship and inspiring music.

Celebrating Our Own Local Hero!

We have some exciting news to share about our very own Jeanette van Gaalen!

Jeanette was recently honoured as a HIT 105.5 Local Hero for her incredible heart and tireless service to the Coffs Harbour community. As many of you know, Jeanette and Andrew serve together as our pastors, and seeing Jeanette’s compassion and commitment recognised in such a public way is a joy for our entire church family.

From her work supporting the homeless and families in need to her recent efforts in gathering the church for the Cancer Council fundraising through Stars of Coffs Coast, Jeanette truly lives out the spirit of community.

A big thank you to HIT 105.5 and Key Cafe for celebrating the quiet, consistent work that makes such a difference in people's lives.

We are so blessed to have Jeanette leading alongside Andrew. Please join us in giving her a massive "well done" in the comments!

Friday Nights | Hope Without Borders

Every Friday night there are familiar faces already waiting for us.

Some arrive early. Some sit quietly. Some are quick with a smile. They know we are coming. For many, this is their opportunity for a good meal. A proper meal. Something warm and filling.

But it is more than that.

It is love.
It is someone listening.
It is prayer.
It is hope.

We know their names. We know parts of their stories. And week by week trust is built. Dignity is restored in small but powerful ways. No one wants to feel forgotten. Showing up consistently says you matter.

I am so grateful for this incredible team of volunteers who give their Friday nights so faithfully. They carry genuine compassion for our Coffs Coast community and for those doing it tough. They serve with kindness and without judgement.

A huge thank you as well to our dedicated collectors who head out into the shops. They are not just raising funds. They are meeting people where they are, listening, encouraging and often praying. Without their commitment we would not have the resources to meet this growing need.

And to our wider community, thank you for your generosity. You are part of every meal served, every conversation had and every prayer prayed.

Hope looks like a warm meal.
