⚠️ BUSH FIRE DANGER PERIOD ⚠️
The Bush Fire Danger Period commences 1st September across the Coffs Coast and Bellingen areas.
From 1st September, a fire permit is required for burning activities during the Bush Fire Danger Period.
Permits are free and can be obtained online through the NSW RFS or from your local brigade permit officer.

Before lighting any fire, remember you still need to:
• Notify your adjoining neighbours and the NSW RFS at least 24 hours before burning, as required.
• Ensure weather conditions are suitable and the fire can be safely managed.
⚠️ If you fail to notify, fire crews may respond and penalties may apply.
For more information about fire permits and safe burning, visit the NSW RFS website or contact your local Fire Control Centre.
Fire permits are important to make sure that fire is used safely. When you have a permit, it tells you the rules for starting and keeping a fire, and it also informs firefighters when you are burning things on your property.
