Share your story of Victoria’s estuaries through art—whether it’s a place you love, wildlife you’ve observed, or reflections on caring for our waterways. No need to be a professional artist—this is about connection, creativity and community!

Open to a wide range of mediums including photography, painting, sculpture, textile art and more. Your work will help celebrate two decades of citizen science, learning and caring for our estuaries. 💙

Tomorrow, 31 May, is World Parrot Day!

In the Corangamite region we have many significant parrot species - including the critically endangered Orange-bellied🧡

Orange-bellied Parrots, one of only two migratory parrots in the world, are listed as critically endangered in the wild. They migrate from their breeding grounds in Tasmania to over-winter on the mainland and feed in saltmarsh habitats across Victoria and South Australia.

With so few OBP left in the wild, it is a tall ask to find these birds on the mainland.

Here we have Trent Griffiths participating in a novel tracking program to detect orange-bellied parrot on the Bellarine Peninsula, a critical region for the species.

You can learn about the OBP project here: https://ccma.vic.gov.au/projects/orange-bellied-parrot-protection-program/

🚶‍♀️ New pedestrian bridge planned for Marnock Vale Reserve

Great news for the Barwon River community! Corangamite CMA is planning a new pedestrian bridge at Marnock Vale Reserve in Newtown, replacing the existing 20+ year-old structure.

The new bridge will be wider, safer and more accessible for everyone—making it easier for walkers, runners, families and people using prams or mobility aids to enjoy the popular riverside trail.

Construction is expected to begin between June and July, with the new bridge opening in August. Stay tuned for updates as the project gets underway!

You can read more about it here: https://ccma.vic.gov.au/barwon-through-geelong/new-pedestrian-bridge-planned-for-marnock-vale-reserve/

Have your say on the future of Buckley Falls

Do you visit Buckley Falls or spend time along the Barwon River? Then we want to hear from you!

We’re seeking community feedback on proposed works to improve fish passage at this iconic site—supporting native fish like the Australian Grayling and helping restore river health.

This is your chance to tell us:
💬 What you value most about Buckley Falls
✅ Your level of support for the proposed improvements

Your feedback will help ensure the project reflects what matters most to the community.

👉 Share your thoughts here: https://ccma.vic.gov.au/your-voice-matters-share-your-thoughts-on-buckley-falls/

Whether you live nearby, visit regularly, or simply care about healthy waterways—we’d love to hear from you!

This engagement forms part of the ‘Improving Fish Passage on the Barwon and Moorabool Rivers’ project, which aims to restore river connectivity and support native fish species recovery by removing or modifying barriers that restrict movement.

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program.
