The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to MONITOR CONDITIONS for forecast heavy rainfall, damaging winds, large hailstones, flash flooding:
Canberra, Cooma, Braidwood, Nerriga, Mount Ginini, Jindabyne.

28.6 mm was recorded at Tinderry (Queanbeyan River) in the 30 minutes to 1:30 pm.
23.4 mm was recorded at Jerangle in the 30 minutes to 1:02 pm.
What are we expecting?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises a humid and unstable airmass combines with a trough of low-pressure to trigger thunderstorms across southeast New South Wales today.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours.

At 1:45 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds were detected near Tharwa, Pine Island and Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Tuggeranong and Hume by 2:15 pm and Queanbeyan by 2:45 pm.

This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.

A heads up for the Collector/Gunning area over the next few days:
A rain event is expected to move in on Sat 29 April bringing some steady falls. Using BoM data, we are expecting up to 25mm rain on Saturday and easing off on Sunday. CLR SES will monitor closely and will schedule reconnaissance if we start getting heavier falls.
Sunday may see the development of an East Coast Low (ECL) off the south coast of NSW. These weather events can bring very heavy falls on the coastal strip but rainfall typically eases off as it hits the ranges. However, expect strengthening southerly wind on Sunday and some cool and wet conditions.
If you need assistance with flood and storm damage, please contact us by calling 132500. As always, if life threatening, please call 000.

Community action at its best!!
A big thank you to the fantastic crowd that gathered at Collector HQ this afternoon to make sandbags and prepare for a possible rain event that is currently predicted to bring another 25mm of rain across the area late on Sunday afternoon.
A stockpile of sandbags have been set up at the SES shed for locals to come and get if they think they might need them.
We also have some loaded on a trailer ready for rapid deployment to George St in the event of flash flooding and the need arises to extend the sandbag levee that was constructed further.
SES will be monitoring the situation closely and will post any warnings issued by the BoM as they come to hand.
As always, if you need help for damage from storms and floods, contact us on 132500.
If life threatening call 000.
