Anglicare Victoria is currently recruiting for foster carer(s) who can provide a safe and nurturing home for a child with additional needs including ADHD and Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Nine-year old Maddy* has a wonderful sense of humour and loves gymnastics and creative play. She needs a medium to long-term foster family who can make her feel loved and secure. The ideal carers would be two adults and no children under 18 years. Maddy attends school part-time, so the ideal carer would be at home or working a flexible part-time job. A background in disability, social work, health, counselling or education would be an advantage.

Maddy has a NDIS package and a supportive care team. Maddy’s foster carer(s) will also be supported with:
• Comprehensive training
• Tax free reimbursement of approx. $1,800 per fortnight
• 24/7 on call support
• Built-in respite care
• Personal carer support and assistance with transport.

If you think you would be a suitable foster carer for Maddy or would like to learn more about fostering with Anglicare Victoria, head to our website for more information. https://bit.ly/3R9FRLL

*Maddy’s name and photo have been changed to protect her privacy.

Anglicare Victoria’s parenting program ParentZone, helped Eddy* repair his relationship with his teenage son and reduce conflict in the household. Eddy said the Talking Teens group was a valuable “course correction” in his parenting – one that would help him develop a more collaborative relationship with his son throughout his teen years.

ParentZone offers sessions on a range of parenting-related topics, including caring for children from babies to teens, healing after family violence, and how to be a great dad. All programs are underpinned by the principle that the parent is the expert in their own kids.
