Double Demerits start at midnight tonight and go right through until midnight Monday 3rd October.

Extra police will be out in force for the annual Operation 'Slowdown', a State-wide traffic enforcement operation.

Police will be especially monitoring :
* Alcohol Impaired Driving
* Excessive Speed
* Non Wearing of Occupant Restraints
* All other driving offences.

Remember to slow down and with possible wet weather forecast allow extra time and never cross flood water

Last training weekend conducted by Coonabarabran VRA for the Mungindi RFS crew prior to rescue accreditation, special thanks again to Rodney Coombes and Stuart Green for the dedication, their efforts, the commitment in training and bringing the RFS crew to the required standards to gain their rescue accreditation to fill a void and assist in gaining more rescue coverage to western NSW. The Newell highway between the Mendooran turn off (10kms South of Coonabarabran) and Gilgandra will be closed until approx 20:00hrs today 1/4/15 due to a serious motor vehicle accident. Any one heading this direction should use the Mendooran road. Please drive safely.

Due to a serious MVA, the Highway will be closed from the Mendooran turn off (10 kms south of Coonabarabran) to Gilgandra for most of the night and maybe into the morning. Use the Mendooran road to get through both directions. Drive safely.
