Do you know how old your smoke alarm is?
We've found one recently that dated back to 1995...

Smoke alarms, unlike wine, do not age well over time.

Did you know that most smoke alarms have a use-by date? Some modern smoke alarms have a life-span of up to ten years and may not have a battery to change, making it easy to forget how long since they’ve been installed.

Remember to regularly clean and test your alarms, and check the use-by date to help keep track of their age.

As we move into the colder months, fire agencies often see an increase in house fires as residents use their fireplaces and heaters to stay warm. With temperatures dropping and possible snow forecast across parts of the state in the coming days, it’s important you know how to stay safe.

Remember, you won’t smell smoke while you’re asleep, so make sure your bleeping smoke alarms are working. A working smoke alarm can save your life and give you and your family valuable time to escape a burning home.

We couldn't do what we do without our Volunteers and our wonderful relationships with all emergency services!

Our airbase volunteers are responsible for refilling aircraft when we have larger fires or fires in inaccessible terrain. They do amazing work behind the scenes and often work in hot and windy conditions.

We thank the VRA for undertaking the training for this very specialised role within our agency.

We are very lucky locally as these guys also step up and support us with logistics whenever we need extra boots on the ground!

Welcome to the team guys!
