254 ACU would like to send our condolences to the family of Lawrence Dawson OAM.

Laurie was a Vietnam War veteran and member of the Coonabarabran RSL sub branch. He was a great supporter of our cadet unit and often commented on how proud he was to see our cadets participating in the town’s commemoration services.

This morning cadets and staff from 254 ACU participated in a volunteer take over of the Sky River Path parkrun in Coonabarabran.

Despite the below zero temperature to start the run 🥶 the unit had a great time supporting this great community event! Thank you to Marty and the team for the opportunity to help out!

This coming Saturday at Sky River Path parkrun will be the '254 Army Cadet Unit, Coonabarabran', volunteer takeover day! We love the Cadets, and if you do to, come along while the Cadets scan, marshal, ‘tail march’, and generally make the parkrun fun happen!

Next Saturday 254 ACU will be “taking over” the skyriver path parkrun. This is a voluntary event which helps us to promote the AAC and support our community.

Come on down and support parkrun and 254 ACU!

Today marked the beginning of a new era with the release of the new Australian Army Cadet hat badge. Three years in the making, the first badge is handed to the National Assistant Commander COL (AAC) Linda Galloway by Regimental Sergeant Major of HQ AAC WO1 Andrew Dyer.

After a travel day yesterday with 205 Army Cadet Unit - Mudgee, 221 ACU Cobar & 254 Army Cadet Unit - Coonabarabran, we have a number of Cadets attending courses for the first week of school holidays, starting today.

235 ACU has
✅ 1 Cadet on CPL Course
✅ 1 Cadet on SGT Course
✅ 4 Cadets on Marksman and Command Post Elective.

*** New unit t-shirts ***

Today we received our new unit t-shirts which our cadets will wear during activities. The design features the AAC logo, Australian National Flag 🇦🇺 and our unit logo 🦅

Thank you to Tony, Joe and the team at Surf, Work & Street Coonabarabran for printing the t-shirts for us, the cadets love them ❤️

We are also thankful for a cash donation which was provided to our unit from another community member. This money will be put back into supporting our cadets!
