Happiness is a day at the pool!

As summer winds down, wrapping up the pool season the lifeguards would like to acknowledge our canteen volunteers who have contributed like absolute champions this season 👏🏼 Their time, energy and good humour kept everything running smoothly, and their willingness to step in - whether for a full shift or a last minute gap filler- made a real difference.

🤔 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 - 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆?

The pool will open if the maximum forecast temperature 🌡 on the Bureau of Meteorology's 📲 Mobile Phone App the day before at 🕞 3:30pm is 🌞 25° Celsius or hotter for Coonalpyn.

However, if the weather conditions are unsafe to open, e.g. 🌩 thunderstorm, ⚠️ the pool may need to be closed for everyone's safety.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗲:
1️⃣ 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧: The decision is made at 3:30pm the day before. This allows for any changes to be made to staffing.
2️⃣ 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞: The official source is the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) Maximum Forecast via the mobile phone app.

📢 Opening Update - 17 March 2026 🏊

Pool users may have noticed the Coonalpyn Pool's morning swim session was closed this morning due to unforeseen circumstances due to water testing quality issues.

The issue has been resolved and the pool will be safe and ready to reopen again for this afternoon's session from 4pm - 6pm.

As we enter the final month of summer, Royal Life Saving Australia is reminding everyone to continue to Keep Your Cool at the Pool. ☀️

With aquatic facilities across the country still seeing high visitor numbers, it’s a vital time to remember that the staff on deck are there to keep everyone safe. Royal Life Saving continues to advocate for the safety and wellbeing of lifeguards, swim teachers, and reception teams who deserve a workplace free from aggression.

Let’s make sure our local pools remain a welcoming space for all. Treat staff with respect, follow the guidelines, and help us finish the summer on a positive note for everyone.

📢 Update to Advanced notice of upcoming pool closures 🚫🏊

Please note that the Coonalpyn Pool will have restricted public access on the following dates:
📆 Monday, 2 Feb – 7am - 2:30pm (𝘥𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘈 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘕𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘱𝘺𝘯)*
📌 Should power be restored in time, and conditions are safe, the morning swim session will open to the public during its usual hours of until 9:30am.

The pool will be closed for the following dates due to schoo bookings:
📆 Thursday, 5 Feb – 7am - 2:30pm
📆 Friday, 6 February – 7am - 2:30pm

The pool will be open for its normal 🕓 4-6pm hours on all days.

Child water safety is not optional — it’s essential. In rural communities, where water is part of daily life, protecting children requires vigilance, education, and community-wide responsibility. By working together, we can ensure that every child grows up safe around water.

Education is a human right - and at Royal Life Saving, that includes learning how to stay safe around water. Every child deserves the chance to build essential life skills, and water safety is one of the most important.

This International Day of Education, we recognise the role education plays in preventing drowning and keeping families and communities safer across Australia. 💙

📢 Coonalpyn Pool closure 21-22 January 2026 🚫🏊

We’re giving our pool a little mid‑season TLC! To keep the water sparkling, safe, and ready for all the 💦 fun ahead, the Coonalpyn Pool will be closed for two days this week on 📆 Wednesday 21 January and 📆 Thursday 22 January 2026.

Latest water tests show the pool needs a partial drain and 💧 refill with fresh water to make sure water quality stays within safe levels for everyone. Doing this now helps us avoid any unexpected closures later — especially with school events and hot weather 😎 just around the corner.

We’ve chosen the coolest days of the week so we can be back open and fully refreshed in time for the warm weekend ahead.

🙏🏻 Thank you for your understanding and patience. A little maintenance now means a whole lot more safe swimming for the rest of the season. 💦☀️

And that's a wrap on the 2026 Holiday Swim program held at the Coonalpyn Swimming Pool. 80 participants from 49 families across Levels from Wonder 4 to Bronze Star came to enjoy the week of very hot weather.

Thank you for your patronage and for the volunteers who kept the canteen running 👏🏼 to make it another successful event.
