NEW QUALIFICATIONS

Today, three members successfully completed their Village Firefighter assessment. This qualification ensures our firefighters possess the required skills and knowledge to respond effectively to non-bushfire incidents, including vehicle and structure fires.

Congratulations to Tait, Ayden, and Ruby on their achievement, which is a testament to their dedication and hard work.

We continually seek new members and invite interested individuals to contact us or attend our Monday evening training sessions from 7pm.

🔥HAZARD REDUCTION🔥

Today the brigade supplied a truck and crew of 5 to assist with a critical burn that will help protect the Awaba Waste Management Facility. This burn was undertaken by a very large amount of ground resources.

It was a long day for all but a couple of our newer members were able to gain some valuable experience. Lots of smoke around and it will settle overnight.

Thanks to the crew that gave up their Sunday. 😊

You may have noticed a fair amount of smoke to the north of Cooranbong. This is being generated from a planned Hazard Reduction burn taking place at Awaba. A large amount of resources are undertaking this burn including a crew from our Brigade.

Please remember to only call 000 if you see fire without truck in attendance and keep up to date with the Hazards Near Me app.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

NEW QUALIFICATIONS

Over the past few weeks, several of our members have attended courses to acquire new qualifications and skills.

CREW LEADER - Firefighter Watt successfully completed his Crew Leader Assessment a couple of weeks ago with a great result.

BREATHING APPARATUS OPERATOR - Today, Firefighters Ross and Darroch attended their BAO assessment and achieved a pass with distinction.

These courses require a significant amount of time and effort to complete and enable the brigade to maintain its high level of service to our community.

Congratulations to Pete, Nathan, and Ruby on their outstanding achievements! 👏

CHECK YOUR SMOKE ALARMS

As daylight saving ends and we gain an extra hour, it’s a great opportunity to take a moment for home fire safety. It is important to check your smoke alarms to ensure they’re working properly.

It’s crucial your home has working smoke alarms, as they provide an early warning and give you and your family valuable time to escape during a house fire.

With the cooler months approaching, please stay safe this winter. There are several simple steps you can take, such as creating a home escape plan, ensuring your smoke alarm is working and keeping all items at least a meter from the heater.
