Cooroibah Rural Fire Brigade

Cooroibah Rural Fire Brigade Cooroibah's Local Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade. For emergency dial 000

A small but active volunteer rural firefighting brigade.

Located in the Cooroibah community. Although there is a general perception that the main role of RFS volunteers is active firefighting there is much more to being a member of a rural fire brigade. RFS volunteers provide services in their local area, including:

Firefighting landscape fires
Hazard prevention and mitigation advice
Issuing permits and fire warden activities
Community education and en

gagement
Disaster management response and recovery options. The recent bushfire seasons experienced in Australia highlight the important contribution that RFS volunteers make not only to the state of Queensland but across the country. RFS volunteers provided duties including firefighting, catering, incident management, logistics support, operational planning, community education, and evacuations. Brigades across the state work to help prepare for fire seasons by training new members, conducting hazard reduction burns, and educating members of the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impacts of fire and emergency events. It's the generous contribution of RFS volunteers that makes a massive impact in Queensland and Australian communities.

Local Fire Ban Declaration

Hi all, a fire ban is in force from midnight tonight to midnight Monday for most of southern QLD, including Noosa.

As the fancy electronic sign on McKinnon seems to be... shall we say, misleading, we have had printed 2 new signs printed and our members will put them up under the sign manually to make it obvious.

Again, all fire permits have already been suspended, and a total fire ban is in place for all day Monday.

Cooroibah RFB would like offer a heartfelt thanks to Chris, Fiona and the whole community that got together to raise much needed funds for us this weekend past.

Your generous donations will be put to work straight away as we were able to accept an outstanding quote for a new fast fill system at the station for our appliances when they return to station from a fire. This will greatly assist our tired crews to prepare and restock the trucks after returning from callouts.

Power outage last night as result of a tree in ringtail bringing down the lines and sparking what might have been a major fire. Boreen point, Cooroibah, 3 urban trucks and a lot of qld Parks and wildlife trucks fought the blaze to keep it contained in ringtail until 1 am this morning. It won’t be the last one in these increasingly droughty conditions. Stay alert
