Coorparoo & Districts Heritage Group researches, records and shares the history of Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina, Carina Heights, Carindale, Greenslopes, Holland Park, Tingalpa and Stone Corner. Our mission is to record and preserve the history of the Coorparoo area, located in Queensland, Australia.We have been researching and compiling the history of this area in Brisbane for thirty years.

How do you restore a much-loved 180-year-old Brisbane landmark while remaining faithful to its history?

Join the Coorparoo & Districts Heritage Group as we welcome Claire Moore, former Chair of the Newstead House Trust, to share the stories, discoveries and careful decisions behind the recent restoration of Newstead House.

Claire guided the Trust through six eventful years, including the COVID closure and the house’s extensive three-year restoration. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear about the project from someone closely involved in bringing one of Brisbane’s oldest surviving homes back to life.

Chardon’s Hotel, 688 Ipswich Road, Annerley.
Today we are on Ipswich Road in Annerley looking towards the former Chardon’s Hotel back in June 1960.

Join me as I rewind the clock and follow this hotel back to the very beginning, following it through many refurbishments and the ultimate rebuild.
