Meet Luke

How long have you been part of 266?
17 years

Why did you join Fire & Rescue?
I was working with Chris at the time, he got me interested and for my uncle Geoff who was a firefighter here in the 70’s and 80’s.

What's your favourite part of the job?
Seeing the kids (and some of the big kids 😀) smile when they get to hop in the trucks at open day or the show.

What’s your regular day job?
Team leader at Australia post

Favourite sports team?
I support Carlton in the AFL and tigers in the NRL.
But my favourite teams are the ones I played for. Coota blues and Coota strikers and now Coota ex-services bowls.

Family?
Wife, 2 daughters and a son

What's your favourite part of the job?
Assisting the community and working with a great team of people

What’s your regular day job?
Police officer

Too many!!

What's your favourite part of the job?
Drill nights.
Some unhinged things happen on those nights..

What’s your regular day job?
Attendant at Trainlink

Favourite piece of equipment?
The Hose

Hobbies outside F&R?
Dinner and drinks with family and friends and Zumba.

What was your most memorable job?
My first house fire. I didn’t want to spray water down their hallway and ruin the place!

Favourite food?
Pizza or a good pub snitty

How long have you been part of 266?
9.5 years

Why did you join Fire & Rescue?
To help the community when I can

What's your favourite part of the job?
No two incidents are exactly the same. Putting the skills we learn to use on the job.

What’s your regular day job?
Tree climber / arborist.

What was your most memorable job?
There’s a few for various different reasons. But can’t go past the firefighters bread and butter rescuing a few cats from trees.

Favourite sports team?
Sydney Roosters

Almost 4 years

Why did you join Fire & Rescue?
To try something new, give back to the community and to challenge myself

Favourite piece of equipment?
All of the rescue tools

Hobbies outside F&R?
Family, fishing, footy and hunting

What would you say to someone considering joining?
DO IT!

What was your most memorable job?
My first house fire. It was not long after phase training we had a call to a house fire in town. There was only 4 on the truck. I was nervous and excited all at the same time.

Why did you join Fire & Rescue?
To have an active role in the community

What's your favourite part of the job?
No 2 call-outs are the same, building rapport with the team, running into people we’ve helped in public and waving to the little kids on the way to jobs.

What’s your regular day job?
FIFO mining

What was your most memorable job?
Coolac service station.

Favourite sports team?
Dolphins

Why did you join 266?
To be in and support our local community. Oh and to play with cool firefighting tools!

TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera)

Favourite food?
Wood fire pizza

How long have you been part of 266?
1.5 years (Longer than Mat but Mat can't count!)

Hobbies outside of Fire & Rescue?
Motorbike riding, mountain biking

What's your favourite part of the job?
Community engagement events and activities. Being part of a service that people trust, respect and feel comfort in knowing that we're here to help them however and whenever they need us.

What would you say to someone interested in joining?
In some ways it's the hardest job I've ever had, in others it's the easiest. Both of these points however, plus the crew i work alongside and the chance to serve the community make it the best job I've ever had.

What was your most memorable job?
The second house fire I ever attended.

2 years (I think)

What's your favourite part of the job?
The camaraderie. 266 crew is like a second family and the variety of jobs

What's your regular day job?
Builder / Owner of Tosca's Cafe

What does your family look like?
Wife, 3 little girls and a teenage son

What was your most memorable job?
While helping out at Crookwell we had a hay truck fire. This was the hardest job I've worked.

What's your favourite piece of equipment?
Any of the hydraulic tools

Why did you join?
A new challenge. Also, a way to help and give back to a community that I’ve been a part of my whole life

What are you most excited about learning or doing?
To be able to assist in rescuing or saving someone’s life

What’s your regular day job?
Owner of Blackie’s Power Equipment

What would you say to someone thinking about joining?
I hope you’re patient! But so far the the coota crew are a great group of people

Favourite sports team?
Don’t really have teams in the burnout scene, any angry car with steel bars

Hobbies outside F&R?
- burnouts
- modifying cars
- enduro dirt bikes
- mountain bikes
- all of the above with my kids
