NSW SES Corindi-Woolgoolga

NSW SES Corindi-Woolgoolga The NSW SES is the combat agency for floods, storms and tsunami in NSW.

The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 228 units located throughout New South Wales. The units comprise of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls. While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm operations

, the SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have been trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters.

Earlier this week our Corindi Woolgoolga SES Unit came together to recognise our volunteers who received the NSW Premier’s Emergency Flood Citation. It was a great opportunity for our members to gather with representatives from the Zone and reflect on the work we do year round, as well as during extreme events.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Nikki Williams for attending the Awards night and for being such a dedicated supporter of our Unit. Her ongoing commitment to our growth and continual improvements plays a vital role in the success of our team and the safety of our community.
We want our community to know this: you have an incredible team of local volunteers who stand ready to help when floods, storms or tsunami threaten our area. They train hard, turn out at all hours, and support each other so they can support you.
Thank you to every member of our unit for your commitment to keeping our community safe.

Great day of training on the Kalang River as part of the state wide annual training exercise Who Let the Boats Out.

Exercises included retrieving casualties from the water, manoeuvering without an engine, towing, person overboard drills, casualty transfer between boats and fire on board.

The exercise is designed to provide professional development for flood rescue field teams and operations, and maintaining operational capability.

Over 170 boats participated (including vessels from partner agencies Marine Rescue NSW, NSW surf lifesaving, VRA, NSW Police, ACT SES).

We launched from Urunga with SES vessels from NSW SES Coffs Harbour , NSW SES Urunga Unit and NSW SES Bellingen Unit and marine rescue vessels from Marine Rescue Woolgoolga and Coffs.

🌟 International Women’s Day 2026 🌟

Theme: Give To Gain

Today we celebrate the incredible women within our NSW SES Corindi–Woolgoolga Unit and across our wider community. This year’s Give To Gain campaign reminds us that generosity, collaboration, and reciprocity help build stronger, more supportive spaces for women to thrive.

In emergency services, giving takes many forms: time spent training, knowledge shared on the job, support offered during challenging callouts, and the calm guidance we show our community in times of need. Every act strengthens our collective resilience. When we give to one another, we’re not only building confidence and capability within our team — we’re helping to create a safer, stronger, and more connected community.

💛 When we give—whether it’s knowledge, time, resources, training, mentoring, advocacy, or simply visibility—we don’t lose anything. Instead, we create opportunities that multiply. When women rise, we all rise.

We’re proud of the women who serve alongside us, and we honour those who support and uplift them every day.

A special mention goes to our Unit Commander, Dona, whose unwavering support, leadership, and encouragement empower every member of our unit to be their best. Thank you, Dona, for leading with strength, compassion, and a commitment to helping others grow.
Today and every day, we celebrate the women who keep our communities safe — and the people who lift them up.

🧡💪✨
