Simone Sheridan was then TiNA Festival Coordinator whom had an idea of creating a visual path between festival venues, to mark that something exciting was happening in Newcastle. The response to the temporary artworks was so positive; property owners requested the artwork become permanent features on their buildings. The project has its roots in creative placemaking, and has seen over 20 site-spec
ific street art interventions across the city, ranging from traditional murals to legal flypostering. This work has been written about across the world, and has seen Simone invited to join the Project for Public Spaces Placemaking Leadership Council. She attended the organisation’s inaugural meeting with over 200 placemakers from across the globe in Detroit, Michigan. SAW has painted all kinds of surfaces from brick and concrete outside to interior surfaces inside a shopping centre. We even ran a paste-up project for local council over six months, renewing artworks on a regular basis, by pasting posters outdoors with wallpaper paste. Simone is experienced in project management, creative marketing, event management and project creation. She is an experienced speaker on placemaking, public art and street art.
