This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the strength, dedication and compassion of mums everywhere, but especially those in our family.

Across the state, thousands of mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, stepmothers and aunties give their time to help protect their communities. Whether they're on the frontline or supporting behind the scenes their contributions are extraordinary.

Today, we thank them for all they do, not just as RFS members, but as leaders and role models in our brigades and communities.

If you are planing a burn, please follow these steps.

The Bush Fire Danger Period is over. However you must still notify RFS and Neighbours if you are burning. Please also remember that NOT all of your neighbours have facebook so if you post on your local community page they will NOT be aware.

Here are the key items to make your burn a safe one:

1. Notify via the RFS website at least 24 hours before
https://nswrfsprod.service-now.com/guardian_csp

2. Notify your neighbours at least 24 hours before;

3. Check the weather forecast and fire danger - only burn if favourable conditions;

4. Use fire safely with clearings all around and water onsite;

5. Monitor the fire in person and see that it is full extinguished before leaving.
