This Sunday, 25 October, from 10 am to 1 pm, we’re hosting our Open Day.

It’s a great chance to get help preparing for the season ahead and learn more about the different things your local volunteers do. There’ll be activities for the kids and, most importantly, a free sausage sizzle!

Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, bring everyone!

On Wednesday night the 26/8/26, the brigade held its monthly training. This month was focusing on BA (Breathing Apparatus) skills maintenance.

For this training the brigade headed up to the Creswick Woollen Mill to conduct the training. The plan for the night was to focus on the Search and Rescue aspect of Structure fires. This was utilised by the BA teams having to navigate via a main guideline and proceed on after the guideline ended to find the mannequin casualties. To simulate the low visibility of the real thing, the crews had freezer bags placed over there BA mask to reduce visibility.

To also add another level of difficulty to the training and prepare for worst case scenario, the casualties were placed in a maintenance pit where the crews had to use ladder access to retrieve the casualties.

Considering the team has not done this level of training outside of getting qualified for some time they preformed very well.

The brigade would like to extend there thanks to the Creswick Woollen Mill for allowing us to have the opportunity to conduct this type of training in there building.

AFAC News has released the Australian Seasonal Bushfire Outlook for Spring. The outlook suggests an earlier start to the bushfire season this year. Drought-affected areas in parts of eastern and western Victoria are facing an increased bushfire risk leading into spring and summer.

Under the forecast conditions, there is potential for multiple large fires starting as early as October across parts of the state.

Now is a great time to start preparing your plan and property, including:
📋 Updating your fire plan
🌱 Mowing long grass
🏡 Clearing gutters.
