âš“ Port of Hastings Corporation at the Gippsland New Energy Conference

After two days of valuable engagement, insightful conversations and industry connections, GNEC 2026 in Traralgon is complete!

Our CEO Matt Thorpe delivered his keynote address on Day 1 of the conference – The Role of Port Infrastructure in Victoria’s Offshore Wind Rollout.

Attendees heard why port infrastructure matters so much in the delivery of offshore wind, received a progress update on the proposed Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal project, as well as insights into the technical studies that the Port is preparing as part of its Environment Effects Statement.

GNEC is a fantastic event to be part of and one we look forward to attending each year. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth across both days to have conversations, ask questions, and share insights, as well as everyone who attended our keynote address.

Well done to the organisers on delivering another successful conference.

Recently our Port of Hastings Corporation team headed out to the Shoreham Foreshore Reserve for a cultural learning workshop led by the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC).

The cold and wet weather didn’t dampen our spirits as staff learned more about the ecosystems that make up Bunurong Land and Sea Country during a guided walk through the forest garden and down on the shoreline.

We were also able to get hands-on learning about various types of fauna, their traditional medicinal and food uses, as well as rocks, seashells and other marine life, and how they tie into Bunurong culture and craft.

We’re very grateful to the team at Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation for lending us their time and expertise, and teaching us so much about Bunurong culture, Country and environmental stewardship.

The Port of Hastings Corporation recognises the importance of a strong partnership with BLCAC.
