Being Rural, some important safety information in regards to contacting 000.

What to do if your 000 call doesn't seem to be connecting?
Your mobile service will connect to the closet tower regardless of who your carrier is.
The emergency camp-on process can take time to connect to another network. Generally, there will be silence on the line while this happens. If your initial call doesn't connect within around five seconds, hang up and try again immediately
On subsequent attempts, stay on the line for up to 60 seconds to give your phone the best chance to connect
All phones are different: if emergency camp-on is available, iPhone will show 'SOS' or 'SOS only' depending on iOS version. Android will show 'Emergency calls only', 'No service – emergency calls only' or a small SOS icon.

***If your phone shows 'No service', there is no mobile network coverage available where you are and you will not be able to call 000 using a mobile network. You may also see a satellite connection on some phones - but the same applies as 000 can't currently be reached over satellite. ****

Look for other ways to get help while you're holding the line
Emergency camp-on won't work if you are out of range of any network. In this situation:
Use a landline phone or public phone, if available
Connect to Wi-Fi and use Wi-Fi Calling on your device

If you cannot connect to 000, keep yourself safe, move away from danger if possible, help others where safe to do so, seek help from people nearby or, use any available means to contact emergency services.

At approx 1250hrs today Crookwell brigade were called to a structure fire.
Crookwell 1, Crookwell 2 and Crookwell 13 (Bulk Water) all rolled out of the station within 15 minutes. Unfortunately the structure could not be saved.
2000hrs Crookwell 1 was the last to return to station and the incoming night crews are now continuing.

If your phone is on silent etc, it will still come through.

At the time of the test, a single Critical AusAlert test will be sent to every mobile device in Australia. Everyone with a compatible phone or other device in Australia can expect to receive the alert.

Busy day today with 3 x call outs.

** 0439hrs CW13 call to a truck fire

** 1136hrs CW 1 called to a structual fire (called off)

** 1650hrs CW1,CW2 and CW13 called to another reported structual fire. (Called off)

Our response times are very good and on our last call out, all 3 trucks left station within 10mins.

By saying this, i hope to jinx it, but looks like we are heading into a busy time leading up to summer.

Police Operation Underway - Crookwell

Police are currently conducting an operation in Crookwell.
There is no threat to public safety and members of the community are not required to take any specific action at this time.

As the operation is ongoing, further details cannot be provided at this stage. Information will be released when it is appropriate to do so.
