You won't have time to think it through when smoke is filling the hallway.
Walk through your home and find two ways out of every room.
Pick a safe meeting place outside. Practise it with everyone you live with, kids included.
Plan it now, while it's still just a plan.

A smoke alarm that doesn't work is just a plastic disc on the ceiling.
Test yours every month. If it doesn't beep, replace the battery. If it's older than 10 years, replace the alarm. 🚨

This National Volunteer Week, we honour the everyday legends who step forward when it matters most.
Our volunteer firefighters give their time, courage, and heart to protect our communities often without recognition, always without hesitation. Thank you to all our past and present volunteers for showing what true service looks like. 🔥

We’re excited to share that our new washing facility is now up and running, thanks to the generous support of the Veolia Mulwaree Trust and Sealark

This upgrade has already made a huge difference to our operations, and we’re incredibly grateful for the financial support that helped bring it to life.

A huge thank you as well to Brian Hayward Electrical and Jimi’s Plumbing Solutions for their work in getting the installation completed, your support has been invaluable.

Thank you to Veolia Mulwaree Trust for helping make this project possible.

Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we pause to honour those who serve and those we have lost.

“When Matt, Stuart, Jason, Garry and Chris of Geelong West lost their lives all of this struck home hard. It didn’t matter that these five were from a different brigade or in another region…what was important was that they were firefighters, who died trying to save someone else’s life and property.”

To all our past and present volunteers; thank you. Your dedication, your time, and your willingness to step forward in our brigade for our community means more than words can express.

Today marks the official end of the Bush Fire Danger Period as we move into the cooler months ahead.

However, it certainly wasn’t a quiet finish for our crews.

The brigade responded to two incidents today. The first was a pile of timber alight at Crookhaven Heads, where we were assisted by our neighbours from Callala Bay.

Later in the afternoon, crews were called to a bushfire at Beecroft Headland, Currarong. A strong response saw brigades from Currarong, Callala Beach, Callala Bay, Falls Creek, Greenwell Point, Shoalhaven Heads, West Nowra, Vincentia, along with the NSW RFS – Shoalhaven Operational Support Brigade, all working together to quickly contain the fire and prevent further spread.

A great example of teamwork and coordination across the district.

Well done to all crews involved 👏

We had a great day out at Greenwell Point helping out with their Home Fire Safety Day today, sharing fire safety tips and tricks with the community. It was fantastic to see so many locals keen to learn how to stay fire safe especially with the winter months just around the corner.

A huge thank‑you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, asked questions, and showed their support. Together, we can keep our community safer and more prepared.
