We know a lot of our volunteers are located in farming districts and as harvest season ramps up, it's important to be prepared for potential harvester fires. GRDC and fire safety experts are urging growers to implement practical measures to reduce the risk.

🌾Key points to remember:

Regular maintenance: Keep harvesters clean and well-maintained, especially when harvesting more volatile crops like lentils.
Monitor bearings: Bearing failures are a common cause of fires. Regularly check bearing temperatures.
Be aware of conditions: Factors like humidity, temperature, wind, and crop type can influence fire risk.
Have a fire plan: Develop a clear plan with your harvest team, including emergency contacts and procedures.

Today, our brigade joined forces with Quairading Volunteer Fire & Rescue for intensive Pump Operations training. These collaborative sessions are key to enhancing our team's proficiency and readiness, while also strengthening the bonds of camaraderie as we connect with fellow firefighters from neighbouring towns.

Massive thank you to everyone who came out to the Emergency Services Community Day on Friday. The weather cleared just in time and the event was a great success. Join us at the Cunderdin Oval on Friday March 8th for the Emergency Services Community Day. It'll be a great family event with food available and plenty of activities. We will be also conducting a vehicle crash rescue demonstration. Come down and meet your local Emergency Services. See you there!

Last night, our fire brigade swapped their helmets for lawn bowls in a great evening of camaraderie and team spirit. We love getting out into the community we live in and are committed to serving. Lawn bowls are a great opportunity to strengthen bonds with friendly competition. See you next week!
