Although a relatively small Shire in terms of population, what we lack in numbers we certainly make up for with endeavour. Community spirit is one of the main strengths in our two towns - Cunderdin and Meckering. Both are vibrant, successful country communities with a ‘can do’ attitude and a long list of dedicated people. We are fortunate to have a range of sporting facilities and community organi

sations and there’s something for just about everyone. It’s a friendly, safe, welcoming community that offers a great alternative to the hectic nature of city living. With exciting and innovative plans for the future I believe the Shire of Cunderdin will progress positively over the next few years, moving forward as a thriving example of what country communities can achieve.

Shire of Cunderdin Secures Funding to Expand CCTV Network

The Shire of Cunderdin has secured State Government funding through the 2026 CCTV Grant Program to expand its CCTV network and enhance community safety in Cunderdin and Meckering.

As one of 35 local governments across Western Australia to receive funding, the Shire will install additional CCTV and ANPR cameras in priority locations identified in consultation with local WA Police. The project aims to improve surveillance, help deter crime and support police investigations.

Shire of Cunderdin CEO, Stuart Hobley, said the funding would strengthen community safety and assist our local Police Officers.

The Shire thanks the Western Australian Government for its support in delivering this important community safety initiative.

📚✨ BOOK WEEK COMMUNITY DRIVE – PROGRESS UPDATE! ✨📚

We are making amazing progress towards our goal of filling 10 school bags with essential stationery for local students at Cunderdin District High School and Meckering Primary School who may need a little extra support. 🎒✏️

🎉 We are officially over 60% of the way there!

So far, our incredible community has helped us fill 154 out of the 254 stationery items needed — that's 61% complete! 💛 We only have 100 items left to go before all 10 school bags are ready.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Your generosity has been incredible, and some items have even been donated in excess! 🙌 These extra supplies will go towards creating additional school bags and adding even more useful items to the high school bags.

There are still a few specific items needed, so please check out our progress list — the empty circles show what we still need! Every donation makes a difference and helps us support even more local students. 💛

And don't forget to join in the Book Week fun! 📖🎭 Local businesses are encouraged to dress up their teams on Wednesday, 26 August. The winning business team will take home an office prize! 🏆

🚒 WELCOME ALLAN MILLS – OUR NEW CESM!

The Shire of Cunderdin is pleased to announce the appointment of Allan Mills as our new Community Emergency Services Manager (CESM).

Allan will officially commence in the role on Monday, 7 September 2026, working collaboratively across the Shires of Cunderdin, Quairading and Tammin to support emergency preparedness, response and resilience across our communities.

We look forward to welcoming Allan to the team and working with him to strengthen emergency management and community preparedness across the region.
