When working from home in the eco village colleagues wonder about the bird noises on the call - some have said where are you, the Serengeti.

Keep in mind this was a cleared dairy farm not long ago, and the villagers have been re-wilding the place which has resulted in animals moving back in.

The EcoVillage dark sky policy is to protect the insects and pollinators, and all nocturnal animals. Here is a link to an article about studies in the UK. With declining habitats and biodiversity, we will need to protect our pollinators.

An early morning walk in the pine forest, re-connected me to the natural world before the demands of my day. As the birds start to go about their day, singing and chatting, reminding me of the omnipotence of life around me.

These local bee hotels are made by a villager and are hosted throughout the village to help foster local bee population. They are split each year and continuously made into more hotels and populated by more bees. Al part of the re-wilding program that dramatically changed this place in the last 15 yrs.

The RRR volunteer committees have many strategies to help villagers reduce their waste. One strategy is a shared herb garden, so that people do not buy spontaneous herbs wrapped in plastic. We also have an active email system where you request things, will find them arrive on your doorstep fairly quickly. This is snapshot of our herb garden.
