The Write It Out: Creative Writing Workshops and Networking event was a hit.✍️📚

Yesterday, young writers from across Greater Dandenong came together at Springvale Library for an afternoon of learning, connection and celebration.

The event launched the Write It Out book and celebrated the talented winners of the Write It Out: Short Story Competition, recognising the creativity and storytelling skills of young people in our community.

Participants also took part in inspiring workshops with published authors Kelly Wilson and Danielle Binks, building their writing skills and learning more about the publishing journey.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, shared their ideas and helped make the event such a welcoming and inspiring space.

Love your body, not the opinions of others. 💛

Your worth is not defined by likes, comments, trends or someone else's expectations. The most important relationship you'll ever have is the one with yourself.

This , challenge negative self-talk and choose kindness instead. You deserve respect and compassion, exactly as you are.

August is month and we’re here to remind you that not everything you see on social media is real. 💛

We spend a lot of time online, and it’s easy to compare our bodies, lives and experiences to what we see on our screens. But remember, social media often shows a highlight reel, not the full picture, and images don’t always reflect the realities.

Follow accounts that inspire body kindness, celebrate diversity and help you feel positive about yourself. And remember, not everything on social media is real.

Wear it Purple Day, observed annually on 28 August is a day to show support for LGBTQIA+ youth. 🌈

This year’s theme is “Colours of Courage” – recognising the different ways LGBTQIA+ youth and allies show courage.

From the courageous ways LGBTQIA+ young people speak up, to the ways allies show solidarity. From the LGBTQIA+ youth living their lives authentically, to those who are still figuring out their identities. All these acts of courage do not go unnoticed.

Today and every day, let’s continue to support LGBTQIA+ youth.
