Moorabool Pet Adoption The Council domestic animal pound is located in Osborne Street, Maddingley. Welcome to the Moorabool Pet Adoption page, managed by Moorabool Shire Council.

This page shares updates about impounded and found animals, pets available for adoption, and general news from our pound. We also post reminders and information to support responsible pet ownership in the community. The Moorabool Pound is a registered Domestic Animal Business (MSCDAB 2025-001) and operates under the Domestic Animals Act 1994. Impounded Animals

Dogs and cats found wandering are he

ld for up to eight days while Council attempts to contact the owner. If not claimed within that time, the animal becomes Council property and is assessed for rehoming. Please note: not all animals in our care are posted online immediately. This can be due to identification checks, health concerns, or legal requirements. Reclaiming Your Pet

Owners reclaiming an impounded animal may need to provide proof of registration and identification. Release fees may apply. Registration Reminder

Pet registration is a legal requirement under the Domestic Animals Act 1994. All dogs and cats over three months of age must be registered with Council and wear a current registration tag. Registration helps ensure lost pets are returned home quickly. Pound Viewing and Collection Hours

The pound is located at Osborne Street, Maddingley. Opening hours for viewing and collecting animals are:
• Monday to Friday: 9.30am–11.30am and 4pm–4.30pm
• Saturday & Sunday: 8.00am–10.00am and 3pm–4pm

Lost Pets

If your pet isn’t listed here, contact Council’s Customer Service team on (03) 5366 7100 to lodge a lost report. Adoption

If an animal remains unclaimed after the holding period and is suitable for rehoming, it may be listed for adoption. Animals are health-checked and, where possible, desexed, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Curly is the more outgoing of the two and loves human attention—he’s always ready for pats and playtime.

While they get along beautifully, they don’t have to be adopted together and can happily settle into separate loving homes.
