In a heartwarming act of community solidarity, the Knights of Malta Craft Group (through the donation of wool via the sister-in-law of one of its members) has generously donated a significant quantity of wool to SECC's Mascot knitting group.

This thoughtful gesture is aimed at helping the newly formed knitting group with their crafting projects encouraging the art of knitting and crocheting.

The Knights of Malta, a globally recognised humanitarian organisation with a long history of aiding communities in need, has found a unique way to support local initiatives.

The craft group, composed of volunteers within the organisation, regularly meets to create items such as blankets, scarves, hats, and mittens, which are then distributed to those facing hardship and supports domestic family violence crisis centres.

Through this donation of wool, the craft group not only provided a practical resource to the women’s group but also fostered a deeper sense of camaraderie between the two communities.

Both groups share a common goal: to spread warmth, comfort, and kindness through the simple but meaningful act of knitting and crocheting.

The generosity of the Knights of Malta Craft Group has reinforced the power of knitting to bring people together in the spirit of charity and community.

Hi everyone!

I'm Sinead, Senior Recreational Activities Officer at The Cottage Day Centre, dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors living with dementia.

Before joining SECC, I worked as an Occupational Therapist in Ireland, specialising in elderly care. Seeking new challenges and professional growth, I reached out to SECC and found my perfect fit!

When I'm not working, you can find me strolling along Maroubra Beach, grabbing coffee with friends or catching up with my lovely family in Ireland via Facetime, including my adorable 18-month-old nephew Lorcan!

My passion? Enhancing the daily lives of our seniors at The Cottage through stimulating, social and enjoyable experiences!

Thrilled to be part of SECC's incredible community!
