From understanding Timor-Lesteโ€™s worker preparation systems to hearing directly from representatives from the Australian Embassy, Timor-Leste, Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the session highlighted practical pathways to address workforce needs.

The conversation around labour mobility continues to grow โ€” and opportunities for collaboration remain open.

Whoโ€™s helping build the NTโ€™s future workforce right now? ๐Ÿ‘€

National Apprenticeship Week is about recognising the apprentices, trainees and employers turning skills into real opportunities โ€” across workplaces, schools and communities.

This is your chance to โ€œGive a Shout.โ€
Celebrate an apprentice or trainee, share a success story, host a workplace activity, or help connect job seekers with employers and training providers.

How will you recognise apprentices in your business or community this week?

๐Ÿ” What do mining jobs really look like in the NT โ€” and how do people get there?

That question sparked a strong conversation at a Mining Workforce
Workshop held at YouthWorX NT, facilitated by the Local Jobs Program, with insights from Minerals Council of Australia NT.

Industry, training and employment partners agreed: we need clearer pathways, better alignment between training and real jobs, and stronger support to help people stay and succeed in mining roles; especially for young people, First Nations Territorians and those entering the industry through alternative pathways.

๐Ÿ’ฌ The outcome is a shared commitment to keep working together in 2026, including the establishment of a Mining Workforce Working Group to turn ideas into action.
