The Department of the Legislative Assembly has two vacant positions in the Library and Research Service. The Service assists Members of the Legislative Assembly to undertake their parliamentary duties by providing timely, confidential and impartial library, reference and research services.
Library and Information Manager – SAO1

This role suits someone with experience in library and information management, strong leadership, research and writing skills, a drive to build an innovative and modern parliamentary library, reference and research service, and values impartiality, accuracy, confidentially and professionalism.
• Highly motivated with the ability to lead a high performing small team with a focus on continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Experience in successfully managing and implementing change in the use of information management systems, databases and electronic information resources.
• Ability to undertake high quality research across a broad range of subjects including legislative research.
• Strategic mindset with an understanding of organisational objectives and the initiative to develop business plans, goals, projects and policies that support the strategic objectives.
• Highly effective collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including with people from diverse cultures.
• Knowledge of working in a parliamentary environment and relevant tertiary qualifications are highly desired.
Senior Researcher – AO7

• Ability to undertake high quality research across a broad range of subjects including legislative research.
• Highly motivated, ability to set priorities and work independently managing numerous research requests simultaneously with minimal direction and supervision, while also working as part of small team.
• Highly effective collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including with people from diverse cultures.
• Thorough understanding of public policy and the operation of government.
• High level administrative and organisational skills, and proficiency in the creation, management and maintenance of corporate records.
• Knowledge of working in a parliamentary environment and relevant tertiary qualifications are highly desired.
The Senior Researcher provides high-quality research support to Members of the Legislative Assembly, enabling improved contributions to parliamentary processes and debates, including in Assembly committees, and effective scrutiny of government activities and policies.
