Teacher Registration was introduced in the Northern Territory in September 2004 when the Teacher Registration (Northern Territory) Act (the Act) came into operation. The objective of the Act is to ensure that only persons who are fit and proper, appropriately qualified and competent to teach, are employed as teachers in the Territory. The objective is achieved by the established of the Teacher Reg

istration Board (the TRB or the Board) to register persons as teachers and to facilitate the continuing competence of teachers in the Territory.

Dear Teachers

HATS OFF TO YOU THIS WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY
On World Teachers’ Day, the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory celebrates and thanks every educator across our communities. You are more than teachers—you are mentors, advocates, and guides. Whether you're greeting students each morning with kindness, planning rich curriculum, or walking alongside families, your work shapes lives in ways that often go unseen but never go unfelt.

We admire your deep commitment to every learner, your ability to create safe and inclusive spaces, and your strength in managing complex challenges with care, compassion, empathy and professionalism. You are the heartbeat of education in the Territory. Today, we invite you to lift your head high enough that your hat falls off. Be proud of who you are and the difference you make. Wishing you a joyful and inspiring World Teachers’ Day.

Kind Regards,
Lisa Hirschausen, A/ Director
Lorraine Hodgson, Board Chair

Our staff take our hats off to you

REMINDER FOR TEACHERS

Don’t forget that maintaining your teacher registration requires completing a minimum of 20 hours of professional development (PD) each year.

✅ Make sure your PD is relevant, logged, and aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
✅ This can include workshops, school-based learning, mentoring, online courses, or professional reading.
✅ Keep records up to date in case they are requested for audit.

Investing in your professional growth not only meets registration requirements but also strengthens your practice and benefits your students.

🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Morning Tea 🎀

This morning, we came together in support of Breast Cancer Awareness with a beautiful morning tea filled with pink treats, meaningful conversation and a shared commitment to an important cause 💗

This morning tea was especially meaningful as we celebrated in honour of one of our own team members who is taking part in the Walk for Awareness and raising money for the campaign. We’re proud to support them and stand alongside everyone impacted by breast cancer.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed – whether you baked, decorated, or simply wore pink to show your support, your efforts made this event truly special.

We also took this opportunity to warmly welcome two new team members, including our Acting Director, Lisa Hirschausen.

We're excited to have her on board and look forward to the journey ahead.
