🚨The Davidson / Cascades Hazard Reduction burn has been postponed tomorrow due to an updated forecast with gusty winds.🚨

Smoke may still impact residual areas tomorrow from the burns conducted today in the Hills District & Hornsby.

Due to a revised forecast, a decision has been made to postpone the Cascade East hazard reduction burn at Davidson until Tuesday. This is due to forecast winds falling outside the prescribed conditions for the burn.

Thank you for your understanding. We will continue to closely monitor conditions for any opportunity to safely conduct this important work.

A Total Fire Ban is in place today, Saturday 10th January, across many parts of NSW & the Greater Sydney Area, including the Northern Beaches. Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast across much of the state, increasing the fire danger.

This morning, four Davidson Fire Fighters — Darren, Luka, Peter and Andrew — departed Sydney Airport for Victoria, where they will be deployed in CFA trucks across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, returning home on Monday.

With weather conditions forecast to be potentially catastrophic in parts of Victoria this weekend, our thoughts are with the crew as they undertake this important work alongside our colleagues from the CFA. We look forward to welcoming them home safely on Monday.

Challenging conditions are also expected across NSW and the Greater Sydney area this weekend, with hot and windy weather forecast and temperatures reaching the 40s on Saturday.

👉 Now is a timely reminder to finalise your Bush Fire Survival Plan if you haven’t already. Ensure you and your family know what to do should a fire start near you.

Stay safe this weekend. 🙏
