🚨 🔥 DAVIDSON HAZARD REDUCTION BURN - STARTING SUNDAY 12TH APRIL - CASCADES EAST🚨
This weekend starting SUNDAY, firefighters from RFS & NPWS will be carrying out a planned hazard reduction burn in the Garigal National Park near Davidson.
This burn is being conducted to help reduce the risk of future bushfires impacting the Davidson, Belrose and St Ives communities.
What to Expect:
• Burning will begin on Sunday and continue through Monday.
• A helicopter will be operating in the area at times.
• Residual smoke is likely to rise from the burn area across the week.
Firefighters will be operating from local streets including, Mathews Street, Govett Place, Sir Thomas Mitchell Drive, Vincent Place and Furber Place.
For Residents:
• Keep windows and doors closed to prevent smoke from entering your home.
• Bring washing indoors to avoid smoke exposure.
• Remove washing from clotheslines
• Ensure pets have a protected area
• Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up, turn headlights on
• Sightseers must keep away from burns for their own safety
• If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice.
Numerous tracks and trails will be closed in the area including:
Cascades Trail , Carroll Trig Trail, Middle Harbour Creek Track, Frenchs Creek Track
Governor Phillip Track along with all informal tracks and trails close to the burn area.
Trails will remain closed for several days after the burn until assessed as safe.
