Markets are on again this Sunday, come and join us for a cuppa.

We are delighted to shine a spotlight on our next regular market stall host: Dayboroโ€™s very own Country Womenโ€™s Association. A beloved long-standing mainstay of our event for as long as we can remember, you can find their stall on the tennis court side of the market grounds.

Drop by the Artisan Markets this Sunday, Yes, that's right, Father's Day for a cuppa and delicious treat.

Sounds yummy.

Sounds yummy.

If youโ€™ve been around the QCWA for any length of time, chances are you have a jar or two (or more) of chutney sitting in the fridge! ๐Ÿ˜„

If youโ€™re looking for some healthy and tasty ways to use up the rest of your jar, weโ€™ve got a few ideas for you:
๐Ÿฅช Spread it on a salad sandwich or wrap for a sweet and tangy flavour boost
๐Ÿฅ• Mix it with natural yoghurt to make a quick dip for veggie sticks or wholegrain crackers
๐Ÿ— Add it to a marinade or glaze for chicken or roasted vegetables
๐Ÿฅ— Stir it through a salad dressing with a little olive oil and vinegar
๐Ÿง€ Pair it with cheese and wholegrain crackers for an easy snack
๐Ÿณ Add a spoonful to eggs or a breakfast wrap for extra flavour

Then, once the jar is empty, you will have space in your fridge for the next one! ๐Ÿงก

๐Ÿฅ‘ Avocados are in season in Queensland! ๐Ÿฅ‘

It's a great time to enjoy delicious Queensland-grown avocados, with Hass avocados being harvested across the state. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฅ‘

Avocados are a source of fibre and monounsaturated fats, making them a nutritious and versatile addition to meals.

Try avocado smashed on wholegrain toast, added to salads and wraps, or mixed through a fresh salsa or guacamole. There are so many delicious ways to enjoy this seasonal favourite! ๐Ÿ˜‹

How do you like to enjoy your Queensland avocados? ๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ‘‡

Dayboro QCWA are planning their 100 year celebration of our branch next year. The branch was formed in June 1927.
We are endeavouring to find details of all previous members of our branch, especially membersโ€™ given names.
If your family member is mentioned in this newspaper article in 1928, can you provide us with her given name please.
Maybe you have other information or memorabilia about our branch, please contact the branch or Jenny at [email protected]

In December 1928 members travelled to Sandgate, it would have been a long trip in the early days of travel in motor vehicles.

โ€œThe members of the Dayboro branch who motored to Linga Longa, Sandgate, on December 1, were shown over the home and entertained at afternoon tea by the Metropolitan and Sandgate branch. Mrs. Mearns extended a welcome to the visitors, and also read a report on the home for the year. Mrs. J. E. S. Plumridge, speaking on behalf of the Sandgate branch, welcomed the visitors, and thanked the Dayboro members for the gifts they had brought with them. In responding, Mrs. F. G. Henzell (president of Dayboro branch) expressed the desire of her branch to contribute funds to enable a Far West member to spend a fortnight's holiday at Linga Longa. The visitors included Mesdames F. G. Henzell (president), W. D. Forbes (secretary), G. Cruise (treasurer), E.Rudd, A. Carson, R. Brown, W. Tomkins, Wallace, Graham, Stewart, F. Kuhn, Misses Hay, Strain, G. Hay, Jean Brown.โ€

- Linga Longa was a historic seaside home on Flinders Parade in Sandgate, Brisbane, established by the Queensland Country Women's Association (QCWA) in the 1920s to provide affordable holiday accommodation and respite for rural women and children.

CRAFT & MAHJONG this Wednesday.

Join us for Craft, Mahjong or to sew drawstring bags for our Kits for Kids project.

The bags will be added to kits for kids to store pencils and or small or messy items such as paper clips, and chalk. Kits for Kids provides equipment for classrooms in the Pacific Island. They ask for these as they are mindful of plastics in their environment.

Come along have fun and learn some new skills.

Yesterday, was the Greater Brisbane Division Competition Day at Redcliffe.

Members were able to enter Cooking, Sewing, Dressmaking, Art, International Patchwork and Knitting & Crochet.
Everyone was able to view entries and there was lots of time to network and discuss different crafts available.
Most winning entries go on to compete at State Conference at Maroochydore in October. Good luck to all winners.

๐ŸŒŸFIELD To FORK update ๐ŸŒŸ

Our wonderful Field to Fork young people are learning lots of cooking tricks, garden care and knife skills. They have progressed in a short few weeks to working independently in their groups on their menu, and sharing their knowledge with each other.
This week they prepared Butter Chicken & rice, Chicken Alfredo, Crepe Berry stack and Eton Mess. They proudly displayed their dishes, before serving them up. Everyone sat down and enjoyed their meal together, and cheerfully cleared tables and washed up. Great to see them learning every aspect of food preparation including cleaning up.
