Our message to everyone during and after storms and heavy rainfall is to never drive through flood water!
In the early hours of this morning SES Ballarat Unit and SES Bacchus Marsh Unit used their boat and Swift Water rescue skills to help two people trapped in their vehicle on Green Gully Rd in Glenlyon. They attempted to cross flood water despite the water level marker indicating 80cm depth. We were on scene first with police and established phone contact with the stranded people.

Again, please read water depth markers on low lying roads and remember it only takes 15cm for a light sedan to be swept off a road or bridge in flood. Thank you to all that came to the rescue!

Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW) is happening on Wednesday 20 May 🧡🟠🟧🔶

WOW Day is a day to celebrate and say 'thank you' to our SES volunteers who serve their communities 24 hours a day, seven days a week through storms, floods, rescues, and so much more.

In the last 12 months alone, SES volunteers have responded to over 35,000 requests for assistance to keep our communities safe 🧡

So make sure you wear something orange on Wednesday 20 May to say thanks!

As Australia’s largest road crash rescue network, our volunteers see the effects that road trauma has on our communities first-hand. That’s why we’re joining AMBER Alert to Shine a Light on Road Safety.

There are lots of ways you can get involved including joining the Albert Park Lake walk on Sunday 24 May.
