Our state has grown by over a million people in the last 12 years, but NO extra firefighters.

Firefighters keep being asked to do more with less - it's not safe for firefighters and it's not safe for the community.

Tell your local MP that they need to fund professional firefighters properly at www.nswfirefighters.com . Our state depends on it.

/// House Fire ///

Fire crews are currently on scene at a house fire on Fisher Road in Dee Why. The first Triple Zero calls were received by Fire and Rescue NSW just before 8pm.

Dee Why firefighters arrived at the incident to find a 2 level house well alight and requested a 2nd alarm response which has seen crews from Manly, Narrabeen, Forestville, Mona Vale and Crows Nest to assist. External firefighting efforts from outside the building continue, with additional hoselines set up to protect an adjacent unit block.

2849 James 'Jim' Hall

We lost a good friend of Dee Why Fire Station recently, 2849 James ‘Jim’ Hall.

Jim gave over two decades of service to the then NSW Fire Brigades and the people of NSW, retiring in July of 1989. He served at local stations such as Narrabeen, Manly and Forestville.

Each year for the Fire and Rescue NSW Open Day, the firefighters at Dee Why Fire Station were fortunate enough to have Jim and his son Mark Hall volunteer their time and collection of a historic fire trucks for local kids to climb over. Jim would often entertain the Open Day crowd (and current firefighters) with his knowledge and stories of local fires.
