We have 2 new turtles in care T9 & T10 , T9 came in from middle rock at Deepwater I was very concerned for her but she is doing well.
T10 from rules beach was very thin and probable fluke overload she was impacted with faeces but starting to move it and has started to eat well so very hopeful they will have a reasonable quick recovery

Meet Dime and Dash 2 Tawny Frogmouth’s from the Nightjar family. People often call them Owls but they are not. These 2 were found in the middle of a local road with no parents or nest anywhere close to be found.
Thanks to those who stopped to rescue them and to those who kindly kept them safe and contacted us.

Yesterday we released T7 , she was rescued by Agnes Water Turtles in early September.
She was very sick with sores all over her caused by fluke in the capillaries, we were very worried she might not make it ,but she did and healed reasonably quickly.
Thank you AWT for rescuing her, thank you Hollie for your tireless help with her, and to all my awesome volunteers and Leith for access to a safe release site.
It is nesting season so please be mindful of our turtles coming ashore to lay, please don’t interfere with them and please stay away from the dunes where they lay their eggs.
You can download QWildlife app to report any sightings, and contact us 0408613914 or Agnes water Turtles 0418650414 for sick or injured or entangled Turtles

It’s been awhile and there is lots of news to share.
We have relocated SafeHaven sanctuary to Deepwater Qld, still in Gladstone shire.
Our animals have been moved to new facilities and all are very happy and healthy.
We are currently setting up our Turtle facility as there is a need for a rehabilitation centre for our local turtles. We will not only rehabilitate but we will also support much needed research.
Thank you to all who continue to support us as we can’t do it alone, a big shout to my family and volunteers who helped with the move.
Thank you to all in our new community for your support and kindness it’s a great place to be apart of.
We are a charity and rely on donations to save our native animals, tax deductible receipts are available for donations.
A special thanks to Dr David Blyde who recently came to do wombat health check and some turtle training.

Thank you to the staff for choosing us for the donation it will help towards our vet and food costs so we can continue to do rescue rehab research and education to ensure our animals are here for future generations and contribute to balanced healthy ecosystems.
Thank you to Dan Murphy’s for your support.
