We had a lovely visit from students and staff today from Rapid Bay School for Thank a Responder Day. Thanks so much to the children for their cards and drawings. Much water was squirted around, lights flashed, sirens sounded and much sausage on bread was eaten. It's great to interact with the community like this. On a personal note, as captain I'd like to thank my team for their dedication and selflessness, their commitment and bravery as they continue to strive to keep the community safe.

Rapid Bay and Districts were joined by Hay Flat Country Fire Service for some training tonight with the aim of one truck drafting from a dam, pumping to a second truck which was fighting a 'fire'. The aim being to balance the water demands of the second truck to ensure crew safety and efficient extinguishing of the 'fire'. With a quick 'burn over' drill thrown in, a great training session was had by all. Thanks to Bill Hellawell, Rapid Bay training coordinator and also to Daniel Nunn and Rick Ewins from Hay Flat for bringing along three new members and good luck to them this weekend as they do they Basic Fire Fighting 1 course.

Members from Rapid Bay and Districts CFS participated in a multi brigade road crash training and reaccreditation session tonight. Yes, we cut up real cars and it is interesting and fun but also has a serious side. It's important to keep our skills up to date and practice the procedures we need to help keep the community safe.

Our thoughts go out to the families affected by this incident. Also, closer to our hearts, we think of the first responders involved and the trauma they encounter at incidents such as this. The ongoing affects for all involved are not always considered. Please drive to the conditions as you will not be the only person affected by an accident, serious or otherwise. Thanks. Jim Glasgow . Captain.

It's rare we attend a road crash with a good outcome. Tonight Rapid Bay and Districts CFS attended to a car vs tree with no injury. The team were called out just on dinner time and so had to wait till much later to have dinner with their families. Luckily the weather was clear and the road was not blocked. Another reminder that the CFS volunteers in your community turn out for all and any incidents to help people in need and keep the community safe.
