With all the unknown chemical/oil filled containers this is a necessary evil, it also restores the aesthetics of our beautiful river.
Thank you to all the works crews involved in the clean up.

Congratulations to Stephanie Cameron on winning the Deputy Mayor position and thank you to outgoing (still on council) Deputy Mayor Mick Kelly for your service.

Steph is extremely down to earth with a community focused mentality and is thoroughly deserving of her seat.

In the council vote I’m currently second in voting behind Mayor Wayne Johnson at the 50% tally. I’m truly humbled by this and look forward to viewing the final 50% vote.

Thank you for visiting the flood affected Meander Valley Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Don Tracey and I showed Mr Albanese through the damaged club rooms whilst also highlighting other areas of the town that were hit by the raging waters including Highland Haulage, Elders and The Deloraine Show Grounds to name a few.

The Prime Minister advised that the Federal Government would honour the $3.35m grant promised in 2019.

I look forward to working with Council as we plan for a future that will unfortunately incorporate unprecedented flood mitigation.

Thank you to April and the Hack on triple j team for meeting me at the Deloraine Kangaroos Football Club to survey and discuss the damages caused by the recent floods.
The interview can be heard tonight from 5.30pm on Triple J.

History shows that we are witnessing a “1 in a 100 year flood” roughly every 6 years. From 2005, 2011, 2016 and now once again in 2022.

This year, the floods peaked a metre over the infamous 2016 level and 4.6 metres over the flood zone.

Enough is enough!
We must raise the facilities, build infrastructure on higher ground or relocate but to do so we need help and action from all three tiers of Governance.

A sporting facility is the heart beat of all country towns. Anthony Albanese, Jeremy Rockliff, Rebecca White MP and Meander Valley Council, Tasmania please come together for the betterment of our beautiful community. We need your support now more than ever!

The rebuild has begun! Any help greatly appreciated.
