VicTrack We’re a commercially focused government agency, delivering telecommunications infrastructure and services to keep rail moving.

Our land is used for housing, business and freight, and to support community groups and tourist and heritage railways. Along with our transport sector partners and on behalf of the Victorian Government, we’re putting our transport assets to work to deliver more for Victoria. As a government agency, everything we do is designed to strengthen transport and deliver better commuter and public outcomes

With much of our asset portfolio dedicated to transport – our land, infrastructure, trams and trains, and telecommunication networks – our focus is strategic asset management and supporting the delivery of better transport solutions. As a provider of core services to the transport sector and asset manager, we fulfil various roles and functions to ensure the state’s assets continue to serve Victoria now and into the future. Our business is made up of two specialist delivery groups, Telecommunications and Property - backed by a full range of support services including Finance, Legal, Procurement, Safety and Communications and Engagement. With a strong commercial focus we drive investment back to transport and communities, and support other non-commercial activities like community projects and environmental and heritage preservation.

We want to thank the dedicated volunteers from Landcare Australia. Our collaborative partnership with Landcare goes back more than 20 years and involves supporting local Landcare groups to protect and enhance natural biodiversity on VicTrack land.

Today we’re supporting Rail R U OK? Day and encouraging our team to have conversations that can change a life.

Rail R U OK? is a movement that aims to empower rail workers to identify the signs that someone might not be OK and offer guidance on how to support them – on any day.

Over half of Australians say rising cost of living is having a big impact on their mental health. And one in five people say they have experienced elevated distress beyond normal levels due to social and economic circumstances compared to this time last year.

So, it’s important to hold a conversation with a colleague you feel may be struggling.

After recent bushfires took their toll on habitat along parts of the Great Victorian Rail Trail, it’s promising to learn that skinks, froglets and toadlets were found on VicTrack land by volunteers from the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network and Merton Landcare Group.

We have supported the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network’s Great Victorian Rail Trail project since 2017 as part of our 20-year partnership with Landcare Australia.

Volunteers enhance biodiversity along 85km of rail trail, from Tallarook to Mansfield. The trail acts as a vital wildlife corridor linking remnant bushland, waterways and forests.

Funding has enabled w**d control, habitat restoration and the installation of nesting boxes for threatened species like the Brush-tailed Phascogale and Squirrel Glider.

The Hampton Quarter development has taken out another award – this time winning the 2026 Urban Development Institute of Australia (National) Award for Excellence in the category of Apartments (Mid-Rise).

The project previously had a win at the UDIA Victoria Awards for Excellence 2025 in the same category.

The development, near Hampton Station, demonstrates how underutilised transport land can be developed to create homes and retail spaces close to public transport. VicTrack delivered the project in partnership with epc.Pacific, Pace Development Group, and Homes Victoria.

Watch how two retired W Class trams were refurbished by Bendigo Tramways and given a new life as picnic shelters at Wattle Park.
Trams 746 and 777 were allocated to Parks Victoria under our Reinventing Trams program that has seen more than 100 retired trams find new homes back in the community.
