What an amazing few days our Level 4 students had at Camp Rumbug from 26–28 August!

Students embraced lots of new experiences and challenges, including the mud run, raft building, giant swing, archery, canoeing, aeroball and team challenges.

There was plenty of laughter, teamwork, courage and, of course, lots of fun with friends! A fantastic camp full of memories to treasure 😊

National Science Week 2026!

What an incredible week of discovery, creativity and hands-on learning as our students celebrated National Science Week (17th-21st August)!

Throughout the week, students explored a range of exciting science activities that encouraged them to question, investigate and think like scientists. From conducting experiments to exploring real-world scientific concepts, there was plenty of curiosity and excitement on display.

To finish the week, students had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Science Expo on the Friday. They explored a variety of interactive exhibits, engaged with fascinating projects from other levels and discovered how science impacts our everyday lives. The expo provided a wonderful chance for students to ask questions, investigate new ideas and be inspired by the world around them.

A big thank you to all the families who came and explored the expo on Friday afternoon.

As part of Science Week, our Year 6 students became forensic scientists to investigate who wrote a mysterious hidden message! Students used ink chromatography to test different pens and compare the colours and patterns produced by each ink. By carefully observing how the inks separated on the filter paper, they were able to match the hidden message to one of the suspects.

It was a fun, hands-on way to learn how mixtures can be separated and how scientists use observations, evidence and reasoning to draw conclusions. There was plenty of great discussion, careful investigating and detective work along the way!

Level 5 had a fantastic time at the excursion to IMAX this week. The size of the screen was breathtaking! We saw two movies: ‘Australia 3D’ where the 3D effects were so impressive we felt like we could touch the animals; and ‘Extreme Weather’ where the tornado wind was so loud our chairs were vibrating! It was a great opportunity for us to consolidate our learning from this terms theme topics; Sustainability, Indigenous practices and Natural Hazards. We are now practicing our persuasive writing skills by writing a movie review about the movie we recommend most. We give the excursion… 5 stars – A must do experience!

Level 4 have been busy learning and creating! In Writing, students have explored and shown great enthusiasm in poetry through haiku, similes and rhyming poems about their favourite people, places and hobbies 🌎

In Reading, they’ve been making text-to-self, text-to-text and text-to-world connections 📚

In Maths, students have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes, rotation, symmetry and translation ✍️

What an incredible day yesterday at our Level 3–6 Athletics Day! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our students gave their very best in every event, showing determination, resilience and enthusiasm from start to finish. It was wonderful to see so much teamwork, encouragement and participation, with students cheering each other on and celebrating everyone's achievements.

A huge congratulations to all of our students for their fantastic efforts and positive sportsmanship. Thank you to our staff, volunteers and families for helping make the day such a success. We are so proud of everyone who took part! 🌟💙💛

It's not often we get to cheer Australia on in an international competition while we are at school... So we made the most of it! We loved seeing lots of kids in their soccer outfits and of course lots of green and gold 💚💛💚💛
It's a shame we didn't get to cheer any goals, but we're happy the Socceroos are through to the next round!

EAL Term 2 Update

In Years 1 and 2, students have been developing their phonics knowledge through a focus on beginning sounds, digraphs and consonant blends. Through engaging reading activities, they have practised identifying and applying these sounds to strengthen their decoding skills and reading fluency.

Students in Years 3 to 6 have been building their understanding of parts of speech, including nouns, verbs and adjectives, while completing holiday recount writing tasks. They also participated in speaking assessments, demonstrating significant growth in pronunciation, vocabulary and confidence when speaking English.

As part of their learning, students worked collaboratively to follow a procedure and cook Chocolate Chip Muffins, providing an authentic context for developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
