It's that time of year again. With a cold front due later tomorrow and a stronger one due over the weekend it's the perfect time to get your yards cleaned up, branches pruned and trampolines tied down.
If you sustain serious damage call the SES on 132500

Your sign that there's some wet weather on the way! 😲⛈️

A cold front is expected to bring heavy rain, possible thunderstorms and strong winds across the Perth Metro and South West from late Wednesday, with another potentially stronger front forecast for Sunday.

Some areas in the South West could see up to 50mm of rain, with the Perth Metro potentially copping around 30mm. Areas between Gingin and Albany could also see localised flooding over roads and even if you reckon your 4WD could make it through, it's not worth the risk.

Now's a good time to bring in or tie down loose outdoor items and be sure to take extra care on the roads and keep an eye out for hazards like fallen trees and downed power lines during and after the storm.

Don't get caught off guard by the wet weather - download the Emergency WA App to stay across what's happening near you 📲

Tomorrow is Wear Orange Wednesday, in support of all of our amazing SES volunteers, so get your orange on! It can be a scarf, hat or a whole outfit. We'll be wearing orange. Will you? 🧡🧡🧡🧡

Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) is coming up this week as part of National Volunteer Week 🧡

WOW Day is a chance to recognise and celebrate the incredible SES volunteers who give their time to help communities during storms, floods, searches, rescues and emergencies across Australia.

This Wednesday, show your support by wearing orange and helping us thank the volunteers who are always ready to help when communities need it most.

Our thoughts are with Marine Rescue NSW and the families and loved ones of the two brave volunteers who lost their lives trying to rescue others. RIP.

Last night was the darkest night ever experienced by Marine Rescue NSW.

Marine Rescue NSW volunteers answer the call for help 24/7 and last night six members from Marine Rescue Ballina did just that. They launched with a single mission, to save lives on the water and assist a yacht, reported to be in difficulty off the South Ballina break wall.

Tragically, two of our volunteers lost their lives during the response.

Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Todd Andrews said the devastating loss is a solemn reminder of the risks faced by volunteers who serve their communities.

“These two men were serving their local community and have made the ultimate sacrifice to help others.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of the deceased, their fellow crew members, the brave radio operators who handled the difficult communications during the incident, the entire Marine Rescue NSW family and the wider Ballina community during this incredibly difficult time.

“We are supporting our volunteers and their families through professional counselling and chaplaincy support.

“We ask that the privacy of those involved and their families be respected during this difficult time,” Commissioner Andrews said.

Well it's looking like it's going to get very windy from late Saturday through Sunday with the potential for damage. The next couple of days is the perfect time to trim any overhanging or dangerous branches, clean gutters, tie down your trampolines and put loose objects away. Stay safe everyone.
