Today, we celebrate all the dads, grandads, stepdads and father figures who support, guide and inspire their families every day.

We also recognise the dads in our CFA family who give their time to protect and support our community. Whether responding to an emergency, attending training, or simply being there when needed, your commitment makes a real difference. 👨‍🚒🔥

🚒 It’s starting to get real!

The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb is just around the corner, with the Doreen squad scheduled to step off at 9:12am.

That means 28 floors of Crown Metropol, in full firefighting gear and carrying around 25kg. 💪🔥

There’s still time to support by donating. Every contribution helps raise vital funds for emergency service personnel, su***de prevention and Peter Mac, supporting people who put so much on the line for others.

🚒 COMMUNITY INFORMATION – YAN YEAN ROAD

As many of you are aware, works are currently underway along Yan Yean Road, with large piles of mulch throughout the area.

Over the past 48 hours, Yarrambat Fire Brigade has received four calls to attend these mulch piles.

We love seeing our community being vigilant and looking out for each other. However, please be aware that these mulch piles are part of the breakdown process and can naturally generate heat and release steam. So, seeing steam coming from the piles does not necessarily mean there is a fire.

🔥 If you see flames or an active fire, please call 000 immediately.

Yarrambat Fire Brigade is working closely with the principal contractor to monitor the works and help keep our community safe.

Today is Vietnam Veteran’s Day, a day we honour Vietnam Veterans and remember their sacrifices in what was Australia's longest military involvement in a war.

The Vietnam War was Australia's longest military engagement of the 20th century. Almost 60,000 Australians fought in the war and more than 500 lost their lives.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, where 108 brave young men from D Company 6RAR resisted an attack of 1,500-2,500 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops. It would become one of the most extraordinary chapters in Australia's military history.

Today Monday 27th of July there will be a nationwide test of the AusAlert System (at approximately 2pm )

This is a test for the Critical Alert.

If receiving an AusAlert test message will disrupt you or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time and leave them off for at least one hour.

Introducing AusAlert

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.It’s a fast and reliable way to help people be informed and better prepared during local and national emergencies.

Who is AusAlert for?
AusAlert is for everyone in Australia. It sends information about local and national disasters, including what is happening now or what might happen soon.

During a disaster, you may receive an alert if you have a compatible mobile phone, tablet or smart watch.

People who may need more support
AusAlert is designed for all Australians.

If you need more support around AusAlert, specific resources have been made for:

people living with disability
older Australians
young people
First Nations peoples
people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Testing and launch
AusAlert will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, the system needs to be tested in local communities across Australia and nationally.

An AusAlert national test will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia on Monday 27 July 2026.
