Local girls want more places to play netball!

Right now the only netball courts in our LGA are the ones at Christison Park, which means local clubs like Rose Bay Magic Netball Club often have to train out of area.

We want to expand opportunities for local girls and women to play sport, so we're proposing adding two courts for netball and basketball at Woollahra Oval 2 in Rose Bay.

The two proposed courts will be line marked for both netball and basketball and located at the northern end of the oval. The proposal also includes relocating the existing cricket nets around 45m to the east. Current training and sport matches would not be impacted by the proposed courts during or after construction.

The proposal has been designed to minimise impacts on surrounding properties, with careful consideration given to lighting and positioning of the courts.

We'd love to get your feedback on this proposal. You can fill in our online survey before Wednesday 8 July or give us your feedback in person at a community information session at Woollahra Oval 2 on Tuesday 16 June 5.30-6.30pm.

Are you a video artist? We’re looking for submissions for Double Vision, our digital public art project in Double Bay.

For inspiration, check out this sample from the current cycle: PICNIC by Antonia Pesenti and Hart Ormella. This playful work celebrates local picnic culture - with vivid and dreamlike sequences of micro-architecture, Tupperware, seagulls and ibises. It's exactly the sort of thing we're after.

Your work - whether it’s video, stop motion or anything screen-based - could engage thousands of visitors to Kiaora Place.
This expression of interest is open until 9 June, with works to be exhibited from October 2026 to October 2027.

🎉 What a day!

On Saturday we celebrated 10 years of Woollahra Library at Double Bay, welcoming around 1,800 visitors through our doors and hundreds more who joined the festivities in the laneway.

From the bird parade, bird mask craft and hula hoop workshop to live music, face painting, science activities and pet portraits, it was a wonderful afternoon of community, creativity and celebration.

We were also delighted to welcome Mayor Sarah Dixson, Councillors Julian Parmegiani, Mary-Lou Jarvis OAM, Hugh Woodgate and Harriet Price, along with Dr Caroline Butler-Bowdon, State Librarian, to help mark this special milestone.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so memorable. Here's to the next chapter! 📚🎂

Our community cares about the future of Victoria Barracks in Paddington.

With the Defence Department planning to divest from the site, we want to make sure local residents' voices are heard as its future is decided.

On Monday, Council resolved that Mayor Sarah Dixson will write to Assistant Minister for Defence, the Hon Peter Khalil MP, calling for the need ensure binding heritage protections and planning controls are developed and in place prior to any divestment. We will also be seeking transparency regarding the timeline, scope and structure of further community input and feedback.

The barracks is an important and historic site that is an integral part of Paddington. We promise to keep you informed of developments as they happen.
