Today's training for Drouin West Fire Brigade - CFA was based on an ember attack on the Jindivick Primary School. Members set up a Incident Management Control, water points and asset protection around the school. This scenario was a follow on from a theory training session a couple of weeks ago. These session are always great for maintaining our foundation skills and developing new skills for our members.

Our BA Room Upgrade/Enhancement has been Completed.
We started the project in February 2025.
At the Brigade meeting held 20 August 2025, it was decided “that DWFB purchase and install a washing machine".
Following on from the meeting and after the Safety First Working Group Report was finalised, the BMT continued work on designing different layouts and upgrades to the BA room to provide better facilities to members to handle and process contaminated Personal Protective Clothing (PPC). These enhancements included upgrading the bench space to stainless steel, providing more storage space and of course installing a washing machine, capable of washing and drying large loads of firefighter PPC.

Over the past several months, our existing BA Room has been transformed through a
collaborative enhancement project involving brigade members, local trades, businesses and community volunteers. The works included plumbing, electrical upgrades, cabinetry, painting and stainless steel sink fabrication, all aimed at creating a more functional and effective facility
to support our BA operations and firefighter PPC cleaning and contamination management.
The project was made possible through the generosity, skills and time contributed by many individuals and organisations, and with the completion of the works the brigade was proud to formally recognise everyone who played a role in delivering this important improvement to our
station.

Project Management and Fundraising
This project would have not been possible without the commitment of the small project team, including Craig, Simone and Graeme. We need to thank them for their enthusiasm and perseverance to make this finished project a reality.
Additionally, the Brigade has worked hard to fundraise money to support this project and without this we wouldn’t have been able to complete the works. Money has been raised at many external community engagement events and Santa runs. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project’s success.
BA Room Official Opening Presentation was held at our Brigade Meeting night 15 July 2026.

Hi Everyone,
Please be aware of the following information / event:

The AusAlert™ national test

AusAlert is a new national emergency warning system that sends alerts directly to compatible mobile devices. Telstra is helping deliver the capability across the network so critical messages can reach people quickly when they matter most.
Before AusAlert formally goes live, a nationwide test will take place on Monday, 27 July at 2:00 pm (AEST). No action is required.
Most devices will receive a test alert that is intentionally loud and attention-grab-bing. Being aware of the test can help avoid confusion, particularly in stores and customer-facing environments.

If customers, team members or members of the public have questions, reassure them that it is a planned government-led test, not a scam or network issue. More information, including the national advertising campaign, is available on the AusAlert website.
