Making fitness accessible, welcoming and fun.

The Making Waves Geelong Low Vision Aqua Fit Program underway at Leisurelink is helping adults who are blind or have low vision enjoy the benefits of aqua exercise in a supportive environment designed with their needs in mind.

More than a fitness class, it shows what’s possible when accessibility is intentionally built into everyday community recreation.

Participants have described the sessions as both physically challenging and mentally uplifting, while enjoying the chance to move, socialise and simply be part of the group.

We're proud to help create opportunities for more people to get active and connect with others.

A familiar face from Norlane ARC is swapping the pool deck for the finish line at the upcoming Geelong Running Festival. 🏃‍♀️💪

After nine months away from running, Georgia has been building back up to running the marathon with a little help from Swim Sport & Leisure along the way. Treadmill runs, StairMaster sessions and swimming have all become part of Georgia’s training mix, helping build fitness, strength and recovery as race day gets closer.

With four marathons already under her belt, Georgia knows what’s ahead and there’s some extra motivation knowing she will be running in her hometown where her friends and family can come cheer along.

The goal? Finish strong, enjoy running a local marathon and, most importantly, beat her Mum who just happens to be running it too!

Good luck, Georgia. We’ll be cheering you on all the way to the finish line. 🏃‍♀️👏

Not all heroes wear capes 🛟

For International Lifeguard Appreciation Day, we’re making waves for our incredible Swim, Sport & Leisure lifeguards. They’re the people who keep a watchful eye, stay ready to dive into action and help create welcoming pools for our community every day.

Across our seven indoor and outdoor centres, 216 lifeguards support our community – from teaching water safety skills to responding when every second counts.

Thank you to all our lifeguards for helping make our pools safer places to swim, learn and enjoy. 🏊

It's Water Safety Week at Webstar's Swim School 🏊‍♂️💦🛟

This week, students across all our centres are taking part in age-appropriate water safety activities alongside their regular swimming lessons as we support World Drowning Prevention Day on Saturday 25 July.

Learning to swim is one of the most important life skills a child can have, and every lesson at Webstar's Swim School helps build safer, more confident swimmers.

🙌 Congratulations to our passionate and highly skilled lifeguards who competed in the 2026 Life Saving Victoria Pool Lifeguard Challenge. 💪🛟

With 24 teams from across Victoria taking part, our two teams put their rescue skills, first aid knowledge and teamwork to the test through a series of realistic emergency scenarios.

A highlight of the day was the rescue relays, featuring underwater obstacles, mannequin tows, rope throws and kickboard rescues.

We're incredibly proud of everyone who represented Swim, Sport & Leisure and the professionalism and teamwork they demonstrated throughout the day.

Pooling your ideas 🏊‍♀️

Construction of Stage 2 of the North Bellarine Aquatic Centre is well underway. And as we dive into the next chapter for this important community facility in Drysdale, we’re inviting the community to help give it a permanent name ahead of its scheduled opening in late 2027.

You can have your say on a shortlist of three options, developed following consultation with the Bellarine Historical Society and our Community Advisory Panel. The proposed names reflects the identity, history and people of the Bellarine Peninsula, honouring three influential women with strong local connections:
🛟 Linda McGill Aquatic Centre – named after pioneering Australian swimmer and Olympian Linda McGill who was the first person to swim across Port Phillip Bay and the first Aussie to swim the English Channel
🛟 Jean Cull Aquatic Centre – named after Jean Cull, the first female councillor on Bellarine Shire Council and a leader in local infrastructure advocacy and community development
🛟 Jenny Bourke Aquatic Centre – named after Jenny Bourke, long-term Bellarine resident, farmer, conservation advocate and dedicated community volunteer
Each of these women has made a meaningful contribution to our community – from sporting achievements and civic leadership to conservation and community service.

This school holidays Webstar's Swim School is hosting FREE water safety workshops designed to help children build confidence and develop essential skills.

Open to everyone, these sessions are suitable for both current swim school students and new participants aged 5+, offering a fun school holiday experience.

Learning to be safe around water is a skill for life, and these workshops give children the opportunity to practise, learn and grow in a supportive setting.
