We are thrilled to share that we have just received new road crash rescue gear from WEBER RESCUE SYSTEMS , thanks to the support from our amazing community, VRA Rescue NSW, and InterFire Agencies.

These new battery powered hydraulic tools complement with our existing Milwaukee battery gear, are going to make a real difference in our rescue work.

With these hydraulic spreaders, shears, and a telescopic ram, it helps us safely free people trapped in vehicles with a precise and controlled intervention, whether it is opening a jammed door, cutting through metal, or creating additional space to get someone out.

These tools also include a cutting edge technology Smart-Force app, which helps us to track maintenance, record usage, and support safe, controlled training for our volunteers.

We would also want to thank you InterFire Agencies for sending a representative to show us how everything works and helped our team get familiar with the gear.

We are so grateful for all the support that makes this possible. With this new equipment, our volunteers are even better prepared to help anyone in need, right here in NSW!

Last weekend, members from VRA Rescue NSW SRG Metro attended the NSW Road Crash Rescue Challenge at Dubbo Regional Council - Showground

Hosted by the Firefighter Championships Association (FCA) and supported by Fire and Rescue NSW and the NSW SES, the challenge brought together emergency service personnel and rescue professionals from across the state to develop and showcase road crash rescue capabilities.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity for our newer members to get hands-on experience performing technical cuts and casualty removals under the supervision of vendor technical advisors. It was a valuable learning experience that showcased the diversity of rescue work our service undertakes and helped build practical skills ahead of their upcoming RCR course.

A huge thank you to the organisers, advisors and all involved in delivering such a professional and supportive learning environment. Our members came away having learnt a lot, gained confidence and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

SRG Sydney was also proud to be part of the 2026 AFL Giants Super Helpful Game at Sydney Olympic Park alongside a range of emergency service organisations.

Throughout the day, our volunteers welcomed fans to our display, showcasing rescue equipment, vehicles and the capabilities used to support communities across NSW. Events like these are a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community, support important causes and highlight the important role volunteers and emergency services play across the state.

A special highlight of the day was seeing Thomas and his dog Tammy take part in delivering the game ball out to the players.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand and supported all agencies involved throughout the day. We loved being part of such a great community event.

Did you know VRA Rescue SRG Sydney trains every Thursday night in the Penrith area?

This week our Class 3 cohort was on the tools, building the foundations such as knots, lashing and ladder slide techniques. These are some of the essential skills on the pathway to becoming General Land Rescue Operators.

It was great to see our qualified GLR members working alongside the newbies, mentoring, sharing real-world experience and helping sharpen those practical skills.

If you’re interested in volunteering with VRA Rescue NSW, we are always looking for committed community members to join the team. We offer a diverse range of training including general land rescue, vertical rescue, road crash rescue and specialist search capabilities. Visit our website to learn more and take the first step toward becoming part of the crew.

A huge thank you to the amazing Rapid Relief Team AU from Penrith for providing our VRA Rescue NSW volunteers from VRA Rescue NSW SRG Metro and Merriwa Rescue Squad - VRA Rescue NSW with such delicious, filling, and healthy meals! Your support has ensured that everyone is fully charged and ready for the weekend's practical GLR assessments. We appreciate your generosity and commitment to keeping us fueled and focused!

What’s better than freshly packed sandwiches delivered straight from the RRT fridge trailer? The Penrith team dropped off a stack of ready-to-grab lunches for VRA Rescue NSW Regentville members during their training day, keeping them fuelled, focused, and able to stay on-site without needing to step away for food. A small gesture that goes a long way.

🚨🤝 Stronger Together 💚🚨

While the design and construction of VRA Rescue NSW SRG Metro’s new building is still underway, our friends at NSW RFS - Regentville Brigade have generously welcomed us into their station and shared their facilities for our ongoing training and development.

Today, when Regentville RFS held a working bee to complete important works around their station and grounds, SRG-Metro members proudly rolled up their sleeves to lend a hand.

This is what community and collaboration look like — agencies supporting one another, strengthening bonds, and ensuring we’re always ready to serve when the community needs us most.

Thank you Regentville RFS for your ongoing support — we’re proud to stand beside you.

Guess who turned 1? 💚🎉💚

Last night VRA Rescue NSW SRG Metro celebrated 1 year since our establishment and what a year it has been.

Our membership continues to grow and we look forward to continue to build our capabilities so that we can support VRA Rescue NSW squads across NSW for many years to come.

We had members of the VRA Rescue NSW Search Dogs - VRA Rescue NSW join us last night to share more about their capabilities.

We also had VRA Rescue NSW Commissioner, Brenton Charlton visit and speak to members about the wonderful organisation that we are a part of.
