Tonight the legends of Dunmore NSW RFS aren’t fighting fires… they’re gathering for something just as important, our Annual General Meeting. 🚒🔥

Did you know volunteer firefighting brigades in NSW date back over a century, with rural communities banding together long before modern equipment and technology existed?

Neighbours protected neighbours, often with little more than determination, teamwork and a commitment to keep their communities safe. While the trucks may look different today, that same spirit still drives brigades like Dunmore.
Behind every pager going off at 2am, every bushfire fought, every storm cleaned up, and every community event supported, there’s a team of everyday people stepping up when it matters most.

Tonight is a chance to reflect on the year that’s been, celebrate the people behind the uniforms, recognise the dedication and volunteer spirit that keeps our brigade strong, and look ahead to what’s next.

People often see the flashing lights and fire trucks 🚒 but tonight is about the heart of the brigade: the members, the mateship 🤝, and the commitment that keeps Dunmore ready to answer the call.

Here’s to another year of serving our community and continuing a tradition built on courage, community and stepping up when others need it most. 🚨👏

Dunmore Brigade wishes to express their deepest condolences to the crews, family and friends of Marine Rescue Ballina.

Last night while conducting a response to a yacht in distress their vessel was capsized leading to the unfortunate loss of 2 crew members aboard the Rescue Vessel, The remaining crew are safe in care under observation for non-life threatening injuries.

At the time of this post, Police has resumed the search this morning as conditions last night were inappropriate to continue. The yacht has now sunk, with efforts focused on searching for any further victims.

Happy St Florians day!

St Florians Day is a day to reflect, acknowledge and thank our amazing community heroes who everyday go out of their way either paid or volunteer to help their community.

Otherwise known as International Firefighters Day, St Florians Day is the day which Saint Florian would feast as the patron for those protecting against fire, or in modern terms a firefighter.

This day is now used as a way to thank those in our community who step up when the going gets tough, when a call needs answering and when sometimes even when lives are on the line.

So to all who step up, thank you and happy
St Florians day!

Last week one of our newest members Sarah qualified in the new FF1 and FF2 training. Sarah is one of the very first members to be trained under this new course and says she enjoyed it.

As of last night she’s also attended her first ever fire call!

Congratulations Sarah!

What a week!

This week Dunmore Brigade has found ourselves in many corners of the NSW RFS Illawarra Sutherland area conducting burns.

Our crews from Dunmore Brigade have partnered with Albion Park Rural Fire Brigade, Calderwood Brigade and Oak Flats Brigade members to form composite crews that have gone all over the region!

Some of the regions included the Avon Dam, Heathcote regions of the Royal National Park and Southern Highlands areas.

Throughout the week our crews got to be apart of briefings, burnings and even got to assist in coordinating an aerial water bombing run.

Awesome job everyone!
