📍 Opened January 2025 as part of the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse precinct redevelopment.

The opening of the museum was a celebration of legacy. Welcoming families, former staff and community members as they reconnected with a place shaped by isolation, resilience and a deep sense of duty.

✨🌊 If you're planning a visit to Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse this Friday, the last tour will begin at 2:30pm, with the site closing its doors at 3.30pm.

🔗 We strongly recommend booking your tour in advance, and if you are taking the last tour of the day, arrive a little earlier to wander the heritage grounds and explore the charming Lightkeepers' Museum. We will be back to regular hours on Saturday,

🔥⛈️ In July 1907, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse experienced a terrifying event when a fireball struck the station, causing immense damage. Ethel Baird, whose father Patrick David Baird was in charge at the time, described the ordeal:

“A storm had been raging for 5 days, then turned into a severe electric storm with terrible flashes of lightning and deafening thunder. Everything suddenly went quiet. We saw a large red ball of fire slowly appear on the horizon. The air became warm. As it came closer, Mother quickly pushed us under the beds. The fireball struck our house, breaking windows, the telephone rang violently, then burst from the wall with a loud explosion.

When Mother reached the lighthouse, Father was unconscious—the phone had blown up in his hand. The damage was terrible: cupboards blown from walls, lightning conductors twisted, everything smashed up. Afterward, the storm eased, but the damage was done. Father was ill for eight weeks. I never want to see another fireball again—it took years to overcome the fear of storms.”
