People with disability of all ages continue to experience violence, neglect, abuse, and exploitation. This was highlighted in 2025 with the release of the Disability Royal Commission and remains a significant issue across Queensland.
Domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV) disproportionately impacts people with disability. It also intersects with diverse identities, including First Nations people with disability, LGBTIQ+ people with disability, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
This event brings together speakers who have been working collaboratively to develop community-led solutions to address both interpersonal and institutional violence against people with disability. It is time to make our communities, homes, workplaces, and state-run institutions safer and more inclusive.
This roundtable is designed for:
People with disability who have lived experience of domestic, family, or sexual violence and wish to share community solutions or ideas
Community members who want to strengthen their understanding of how to support people with disability impacted by DFSV
Workers in the DFSV sector, including shelters, frontline services, policy roles, community programs, nurses, and mental health professionals
Disability advocates seeking to deepen their understanding of DFSV and community-based support options
Support coordinators, service providers, family members, friends, teachers, government employees, and anyone committed to better supporting people with disability
QAI is hosting a 90 minute online roundtable to bring together various speakers from across Qld will share the impacts of DFSV on people with disability.
