Snowy Hydro has conceded it may miss its 2028 deadline for finishing the Snowy 2.0 project and revealed its “disappointing” Italian contractor Webuild could suffer losses depending on the size of a major budget blowout.

“The end of 2028 is not feeling comfortable,” Mr Barnes told The Australian on Thursday. “That’s probably that.”

However, Mr Barnes disagreed with Webuild handing itself a high rating.

“They’ve been a bit disappointing,” the Snowy chief executive said. “There’s been lots of things that they’ve had to deal with. They are pretty engaged with us. But it’s been challenging for them and it’s been challenging for us. Could they have done a better job? Probably.”

Asked to elaborate, Mr Barnes said: “I think that’s probably best left to when we announce the new cost.”

Finally the Guardian admits what everyone already knows.

They choose and manipulate photos to make One Nation look the worst and terrorists look better. It's just surprising to hear them admit it out loud.

One Nation will ban The Guardian from future party events after the outlet admitted that some of its photographs make One Nation leader Pauline Hanson appear more “sinister”.

If you are a temporary visa holder or a foreign citizen residing overseas, One Nation will give you two years to sell their property to an Australian.

One Nation would remove the ability for international students, non-permanent residents, and non-Australian citizens from buying future property within Australia.

Australian homes should be prioritised for Australians. One Nation makes no apologies for putting Australians first.

Foreign owners – temporary visa holders and foreign citizens residing overseas – would be given two years to sell their Australian residential properties under One Nation’s policy.

Permanent residents have been accepted to settle in Australia permanently. They live here, work here, pay taxes here and build their lives here. Many are on the path to citizenship. One Nation’s policy does not require them to sell their homes.

Governments routinely regulate foreign investment in housing, agriculture, infrastructure and strategic assets.

The Commonwealth already bans most foreign persons, including temporary residents and foreign-owned companies, from purchasing established dwellings, subject to exceptions.

Labor extended that ban in the 2026–27 Budget. One Nation’s policy effectively only extends these bans to new homes. Politicians attacking One Nation’s policy are attacking a principle the government already applies.
